Check out the Jet City stuff. Just p/u a 22h head for $320 new at MF.(22h = 22watts, they have 50 and 100 watts too) Two channels crunch and lead. the lead is supposed to be lead channel from the SLO (tons of gain) I love it, a lot of fun. I'm a marshall guy and this is right there tone wise, higher gain.

That does sound pretty good.. he always gets great recorded tones though. Combo of direct and room mic'ing really brings out the best in his demos. Good crunch on that thing.

Fan boy here, too. My 22H is currently on the bench at BFG, getting some mods done. These are great amps stock. After Brian gets done with it, should be even better!

I was just going to say, send that to Brian (briango200) BFG Amplification and you wont believe how good it sounds after he's done with it!!!!!! I Guaranty it!!!!!

How's it going, Greg? I'm the guy that showed up at your place one time for a little SLO/101B trade action.

Damn..........that didn't help my GAS! Been wanting one for awhile but just gotta another guitar so I'm gonna have to wait a little longer.

Those Jet City amps sound great stock, but get the "SLO" mod and depth mod done and they really come alive. If you know how to solder and drain caps to a zero energy state properly, it's an easy R&R type of mod that'll cost you about $20 in parts.

On mine, Brain's doing a combo Jose-style & flame-thrower on the two channels, with an overall low end warm up plus a depth knob. Really, really, really looking forward to it!

I would really like to try a JC amp. I'd be curious how it compared to my Avenger.
Seeing as they are both kind of marketed the same.

Form clips I heard, my Avenger's gain is more of a 6505 type metal level and quite modern sounding, but other than that the overall JC tone matches pretty close in terms of likeness. Not sure about the feel so I'd like to play a JC100. With the right mods by BFG the JC might surpass the Avenger, who knows? Badass amps though that's for sure.

Hey there, I'm good! How are you? That was my 1st SLO

I play mine stock and think they sound great just the way they are. My 22H through my Whitebox Engineering 2x12 with WGS ET65S is MONSTER!!

been using the 2112 combo for a couple of years now. it's still stock except that i've swapped out a few pre amp tubes. the latest thing i've tried is punching the front end of the amp with a jauernig luxury drive. i could feel the whole cab resonate. i think doug would have liked that.
depth mod? after that experiment i don't think so.

Hit the front of that 2112 with the Jet City Afterburner pedal and prepare for miles of smiles.

that's a great idea. why didn't i think of that? the other nice thing about the luxury drive is that you can use it pre or post pedals.
i swapped out v-1 and 2.. left v-3 alone since that's the pi and isn't in the tone circuit.. and put jj's in the reverb drive and recovery to warm it up a bit.

I did add the depth mod and like it a lot. I really like the amps stk tone. So I'm leaving it stk (except for the depth mod) for now. I did order the different jet city logo and painted the front black (don't like the blue) added chicken knobs. Killer amp for just over $300. 22 watts is perfect power for me at home and gig (clasic rock blues pop band) This thing seems pretty well made too, hope it holds up love the tone.

after owning this amp for a couple of years and doing quite a few gigs the only problem i've had is that the jewel light went out. it was still under warranty and they were very quick to send me a replacement with photo instructions as to how to install the new one.
i think the problem was that i was plugged into an outlet strip that had a neon light plugged into it. someone turned the light off between sets and i think i got some flyback voltage from the ballast on the neon light. other than that it's been just fine.
i could see a depth mod for this amp. it was a bit thin in larger settings.. but since my last experiment i don't think i need one.

you may remember that i have a shockwave on my other pedalboard.. and i really like it. it just never dawned on me to plug an afterburner into the 2112. duh.

I just picked up a jca22h about a month ago and I can't say enough about this amp! Stellar, I did the depth mod but haven't wanted to do anything else to it. Just hit it with a boost an it's heaven.

Next thing I get to try is seeing how the Red RetroValves affect the tone. Should be interesting.

I agree, I tried the clean mod and others out there but, really think the stk amp is killer, the way it is. The depth mod is good to have but, I could do without that too. On the retro valves, I just got a mixed set (one of every color) and really like the red the best. Adding the retro red to v1, on the 22h, just adds a little more compression and dirt (which I don't need) its not like hitting the amp with a overdrive pedal. I just got the retros and have to mess with them more.
