I have two JCA 50 watt heads. One has all the SLO mods plus a saturation switch and the other is stock. both of these heads ran me less than 300 dollars. I love them. Can nail the Back For The Attack tone pretty nicely on the one with mods.

Anyone else here have love for jet City? I am dying to check out their new 800 model but it sells out quickly.

here is a link to a very quick clip. I am not a shredder so don't hold me to any standards higher than tuning a guitar please :)
Quick JCA SLO clip

I know, right? and all the options you can grab. for that price?

I'll try to upload a small clip of the modded one today...

I had no idea of the new ones.. off to check them out. I do know they are great mod platforms and I personally think they should just sell them that way stock! "JetSLO", "JetPLEX" etc

SLO modded 100hdm here. Killer amp, especially considering it cost £180.

I’ve had a JCA50H that I heavily modified a few years back. Great alternative to the typical Marshall tone.

I have a JCA100HDM that I SLO modded including moving the loop and adding a loop master volume. It is a pretty killer amp!

I had a JCA50H briefly and it sounded great. I would have kept it except it had serious heater hum, to the degree that it made it unsuitable for my uses. I understand that this was a problem with the 50 watt models in particular. I wouldn’t mind grabbing a 100 some time.

I really regret getting rid of my 22H ... loved how it sounded and now know a guy who could have modded it to do a bit "more"

I still have my BFG Modded Jet City 20H, Brian also put a choke in it for me also.

There’s a mod to fix that, if you’re handy with a soldering iron :).

Yeah I saw people use various methods with differing degrees of success, but I figured it was better to sell it before it screwed it up trying and just to get a 100 watt later on. They’ve gotten a little scarce on the used market though.

How close do these come to the true SLO tones? Mine is modded to be more JCM

IMO they come close enough that if you don’t like the sound of the Jet City JCA50 or 100, you won’t like the Soldanos either. The JCA50H is pretty damn close to the Soldano Hot Rod but the latter is going to have more clarity and a punchier/more authoritative low end, at least that’s how I hear it. Talking about totally stock here.

Jet City amps are cool, especially for gain, very mod friendly

Jet city is perfect example of how important are trannies/iron. They miss 'magic' what makes Soldano great. Very generic, flat and one dimensional sounding amps even they are 95% Soldanos circuit-wise :) I had 20, 50 and 100W. Good modding platform but no cure for SLO GAS.

I knew someone would bring up the trannies. lol.... I agree. I wonder how many owners have gone as far as to replace the trannies. I know of one guy that had a Mercury Magnetics installed in his 20 watt. he said it was the link that was missing.

My BFG modded one has a Mercury OT and choke.. but he made it more JCMish than SLO with a Sat switch. I don't know how it sounded before though.
