Trace says $425 for the mod and a 5-7 day turnaround. Nice!

I have a 79 2204 sitting around that I may send off. I wonder if this jose mod with dual gains is similiar to the Dr feelgood mod voodoo offers which also has two gains I believe? Anyhow, clips r nice and thanks for the Gas!

I could actually make the amp cleaner as well as dirtier, definitely more flexible.
How does it clean up rolling off the gtr's volume?

So I wanted Trace to re-cap my old JMP and undo some questionable work I spotted on the PCB when I acquired it, and decided to try his Jose mod while he had the amp.

I was initially worried the amp might lose it's character, but after I got it back it had the same base tone with an extended range. I could actually make the amp cleaner as well as dirtier, definitely more flexible.

So I tried to hack my way through some material in this clip...80's flavored of course.

No pedals straight in, the last segment I used my DD-20 to add some delay in.

I had the same concerns as you when I got my '76 JMP modded. I specifically wanted to keep some of the original character (mine also has 6550 power tubes) and after talking to
Trace he assured me that my amp would certainly do so but also give me plenty of flexibility in the high gain territory. Well, to make a long story short, I couldn't be happier. Mine has two push/pull bright switches on Vol I and Vol II plus a boost switch and a push/pull sat switches on the MV control. One thing that I really love is the fact that the amp responds to volume control from the guitar very well even when the gain is cranked up! Trace is a great guy to deal with I would never hesitate to send him more gear to work on.

Good, I'm going to try a make a video of it this weekend. :)

Here's an example of the amp totally clean, both gains at 11:00:

For you Tom, we used to do this song in like 1984, takes me back.

Got any closeup pics, front, back, & inside. Also, is there a pot where the low input was?

Man learning Akira licks is like getting the cliff notes version of 80's hard rock/metal.

This is the only pic I have at the moment

Seriously, this is one of the best modded Marshalls I've heard. Not only do you nail that awesome Akira tone, but you also get a sick clean! I'm gassing hard here...

Is your camera a Q3HD and if so, how do you have the mic going into the camera???
