So I wanted Trace to re-cap my old JMP and undo some questionable work I spotted on the PCB when I acquired it, and decided to try his Jose mod while he had the amp.

I was initially worried the amp might lose it's character, but after I got it back it had the same base tone with an extended range. I could actually make the amp cleaner as well as dirtier, definitely more flexible.

So I tried to hack my way through some material in this clip...80's flavored of course.

No pedals straight in, the last segment I used my DD-20 to add some delay in.

Sounds killer. Probably the best tone I have heard from Trace's mods.

Who do VooDoo [?] Sounds like Trace got that one right, are there V30's in the Bogner cab?

Thanks for the responses :) , I should have worked on the last part more.

The basic mod has one gain control, this has 2. Both gains set at 3:00 to me sound similar to a stock 2203 with the one gain control at 3:00. That's how you get the stock sound, and also how you can actually make the amp cleaner by reducing one or more of those gain controls.

Uberkab with V30/GT75 x pattern.

EL34's, this JMP is a non-USA version.

Man that solo on the last segment is painful to listen back to, I had had a few drinks and was frustrated I couldn't get the solo down smoothly and rushed it.

Sounds fine, really, nice job. An old JMP with a couple tweaks is GOD TOAN if you ask me, would rather have a modded JMP than any other amp.

Old Loudness fucking rules. Just sayin'. Great tone and playing!

Sounds good

You gotta love the "rip" that a modded JMP gives ya. Sounds like Trace got it right on this mod.....very impressive!

Good morning guys!

This is a Custom version of the HG-Jose Mod. As previously mentioned, there are two (2) gain controls (IE: Gain-1 & Gain-2) and this lends to making the amp a great deal more versatile. There is a push/pull bright switch on Gain-1 and a push/pull Saturation switch on Gain-2 along with the usual Master Volume, Bass, Mids, Treble, Presence. You can set the amp up so it's very clean (no distortion or grit at all) as well as heavily saturated tones.

As a side note, I have to say that this video does capture the low end better than any other video of the HG-Jose. Well done Shiny_Surface!!

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask as I would be happy to answer them.

Thanks!
Trace
