Awesome as always!! Some hard fingerings and chords on that one, you make it look easy but I'd have a hell of a time with them.

Mark has always been good with hard fingerings

Lol.

The screwed up thing is that I am now the backup guitar player to a journey tribute band and I have to learn that song and by posting that video, I can't tell you how much easier you have made it for me to learn it!
KILER, Killer Job! On another note, I am exactly like you in that I cannot for the life of me remember stuff after I've learned it. If I don't use it I lose it. It's a major thorn in my side!!

All the best!

Thanks, glad I could help!! Sounds like a cool gig!!

Be careful...You Tube is where Journey found their current singer. Soon they'll be stealing yours! LOL Nice job. I always enjoy your vids. Love the guitar face too!

You strike me as someone who not only plays very well, but really enjoys what they do. I get a big kick out of your videos and appreciate the effort you put forth to record and post them (even if I am more than a little jealous of your ability). This one is no exception and I tip my touk to you. If you ever find yourself in the middle of a cornfield in Indiana, I'll buy you a beer (or whatever you crazy Canadian's drink)

Without Perry, Journey is now the Worlds highest paid tribute band. I mean, unless they write some actual hits w/ the new guy, they are just a shadow of their former self.

I do like the sampled vocals of Perry's high vocals on the new video though. SNAP... I just said that out loud huh. Oh well... I still LOVE Neal's guitar work.

+1 - I've been a fan of Journey for a long time, but I just can't support the new guy (Arnel Pineda). I'd much rather hear Deen Castronovo sing - that guy is bad-ass on drums and vocals.

I saw them 4 years ago when Steve Augeri was fronting the band. He missed several shows because of an illness and the guy they had filling in (black guy - didn't catch his name...) just killed it. They should have given him the full-time gig. I'd still love to see Steve Perry back in the band where he belongs. YMMV ;)

I'd be really happy for him. I'm sure he could get me a job selling merch or something..lol

Thanks Indy!! You are too kind. Love to take you up on that drink! (non-alcoholic of course..lol)

Castronovo RULEZ!!! I think his voice beats the crap out of Arnel's. I just can't stand looking at Arnel. Could his fuckin eyes get any farther apart. Is he half hammer head shark?

I couldn't help it. He has a good voice... Just-- Something about him pisses me off. Can't really explain it.

I got the guys in my band to do the backing track for this. Roy Nichol doing the vocals, drums and midi stuff, Don Lecompte on bass. I'm playing guitar over the backing track that we created...no other guitars are present.

This boy can sing!!!

Mark

Hey,

I stood behind Roys kit at an outdoor gig up in CaNaDa when I first met Mark and old boy played drums, triggered samples and sang spot on Steve Perry songs an then helped carry the 4x12s off the stage when done. Doesn't get much better than that in a drummer.

Cool clip.
Easily the best feel-good drummer story I've ever heard...most can be replaced by a machine ;)

Ditti Ditto, I had all of the relevant Journey/Perry stuff(as well as a bunch of obscure stuff) nailed at one point in my life and would need a few days to get it all back again. If Im not playing it regularly, it doesnt tend to stick around and that includes anything that Ive ever written lol!!!

Great job Mark, would love that Backing Track

I keep coming back and listening to this, as well as various versions on Youtube. I had forgotten what a great tune this is.

And I too would love the backing track. I doubt my singer could pull this off but I know that I'm going to find out :D

I am so stupid when it comes to remembering anything...maybe I'm just preoccupied or something. Same goes with originals. I remember writing a few a couple years back and we recorded them, when we started playing them in our live shows I had to sit and learn them like they were someone elses. What a pain in the ass.

You have mail Kage :)
