OK, first off, we are not trying to "note for note" this tune. Lol, for all the critics out there :)

The backing track was done by my old band (Roy Nichol: vocals, drums, keys and Don Lecompte: bass)
I played rhythm during the solo sections on the back track as well.

This is a version of Journey's live rendition of this tune.

AxeFx 2, Fender Strat( Mexican Blacktop that has been totally modded).

For all you old timers, Roy Nichol is now the permanent drummer for April Wine and is currently doing a North American tour with them.

Kinda strange for me because April Wine was the first concert I ever saw when I was about 16 yrs old.

Nice!! Havent heard that song in years!
Loved when you were going back and forth from the main riff to the little fill 'licks'...
sounded great Mark!!

Mark, that sound awesome!!!!   Your playing always rocks IMO and I like when you play things your way and not note for note.

My girlfriend said get my amp back from Dave first then dream about the Axe Fx for the next two years

Awesome Mark! I love your vids. Tone and playing is top notch and they make my day. It is a great day when I see a vid from you and Dan Gower!

Awesome Mark. Great to see another video. A little different tone from you. I like it. A lot of presence. Clear, real snap to it.
(Strat characteristics for sure) what pickups in the bridge?

As always, you

Are you sync'd with the video camera or is that just camera audio?

I record the video and at the same time record the audio in Logic Pro. I then import the video into the Logic project and sync it up, then export the audio to the video and at the same time remove the camera mic audio. Then import that into iMovie and do any titles and stuff.

sounds cool, what mods did you do to the Blacktop?

It was originally 2 humbuckers, I swapped out the pick guard to a HSS config. Put in a Motor City Hot Head in the bridge and two Suhr singles.
I replaced the ugly control knobs. It comes with a horrible Floyd Rose Special bridge, I replaced that with a Schaller nickel Floyd Rose and nut.
I had Eric at Lush Guitars do a pro setup that include dressing the frets.

It plays and sounds amazing now, and it looks pretty sweet too.

Just now got around to giving that a listen....nice tone and playing as always Mark.

My first concert ever was Journey's first tour with Steve Perry, I was 13-14 and saw them in Cobo arena in Detroit, Neil had the 3 foot fro and played a Les Paul's all night. I wanted to play electric guitar that very night but didn't get one until I was a senior in high school.
