Jubilee... What would you do?

I own a Marshall 2555sl (jcmslash) with 412 and want to downsize my rig for small club stages. I recenlty tried the Mini Jubilee with a vertical 212 cabinet and it sounds great but fall way short of the big guy. I love how it has a very small footprint on stage but I miss the power. Im going to play it tonight again and make a final dicision. I was looking at a Jubilee 2558 212 combo. My question is....Should I sell the 2555sl head and buy the combo or keep the head and buy a 212 cabinet? Either way, I cant afford to keep everything. Looks like I will be selling the 2525 mini jube.

Keep the head, and get a 2x12 or even 1x12. If you are mic'ed up and have monitors it won't matter much. You can always get another 4x12 down the road.

I'd say check out the Port city oversized 2x12, you can get them unloaded for about 600 bucks in custom tolex colors. They sound huge, I'd say just about the same as most 4x12's

I was actually looking at the slammins by mojotone. It's a 212 cab with slanted up speaker baffles. I'm also leaning towards keeping the head, I just like the idea of something different...and an "all in one box" combo amp is easier. I am mic'd up on stage...my bands stage volume is just stupid....I like to let the PA do the work but Im getting paid so I go with the flow.

That sounds pretty cool, Mojotone is located very close to me but I'm not all that familiar with them. Combo amp is definitely easier and if you are mic'd anyway I'd say go with that.

I prefer to have a head and cab, but a few more years of hauling this fryette fat-bottom around and I'll probably be in the combo amp camp

Keep the 2555. You will miss the power....you can always turn down, but the 50w will not be able to give you that thump if you need it.....

I usually have the output master at about 6 , the lead master 5.5, and the input at about 5....I use the amp as a 2 channel. clean/dirty.

ok. cool... I'm thinking you could gig a 2x12 with vintage 30s and be fine.. I'm using a 412 with the lead master on 10 and output same as you

Got a similar problem and the same amp - a 1989 2555 ----- been thinking about using the 2555 into an OXBOX and using the monitors ( in small & indoor shows ) --when a big outdoor show comes around take the 4x12 & oxbox ------- look it up - could be an answer

Whatever you do, DO NOT sell the Jubilee. I used to have 2 of those in Mint Condition & I regret selling them.

I am usually about a foot away from my amp....my band points our amps from the side, so people don't get it right in the face on the floor. I'm 5'6 so if my amp/cabinet is to the left of me ....I sometimes have to play sideways. By using a 212, it's much lower giving me some room for my guitar neck. same footprint horizontally but smaller verically....hope that makes sense. I wish I could smash the 100 watt head into the small box. I love how the mini fits on stage with the vertical cabinet...but thats not possible.

This. Do not sell the jubilee, these old ones have the mojo, the transformers and all this stuff. No comparison to the reissue. And since the master volume work great, you can buy a 1x12 or 2x12 for the smaller venues. I would bring the amp to a tech and check the values of caps and tubes.
