Yep.I dunno, this conversation has been going on for years and they're still standing. I went to my local GC last month for the first time in at least a year and they had a lot of guitars hanging. The store seemed to be a little bit in shambles but there were people in there.
Other than the few employees this store has that are really good losing their jobs, I really wouldn't care if it closed. I much prefer my locally owned store.
Yet GC still runs like it always does.
Yep.
People here have brought this up numerous times, since I joined way back in 12.

Question is, are they paying their debts with all those sales spikes? Plus, you have Musicians Fiend selling their wall hangers as new.this. didnt they and other stores make a killing these last couple years during covid?? cant imagine now they would be going under
I hope it works out, if for nothing else the online used inventory is a great place to grab some deals from time to time.this. didnt they and other stores make a killing these last couple years during covid?? cant imagine now they would be going under

i dont think all guitar centers are equal, the one closest to me is mostly entry level and blackstar stuff with a few les pauls and usa fenders, the one an hour north had all sorts of nice stuff both new and used
Both near me sell entry level amps, but have nice guitars out of reach. One had a NICE selection of premium Heritages. Real nice guitars.
The worst packing jobs I’ve had, all came from Florida stores. Most recent was a 1960C slant with the 6402 GBs…they put the cab on a pallet, then plastic wrapped the cab to the pallet. No bubble wrap or packing…then, the shipper put another pallet on top of the cab which tore off the front side tolex. Too bad, the pic was of a mint cab. Returned it fast. Both near me sell entry level amps, but have nice guitars out of reach. One had a NICE selection of premium Heritages. Real nice guitars.
That's why I feel lucky my local store has the few really good guys. They've been in the industry for decades. As far as I am concerned, for my needs, GC could be a kiosk on the sidewalk. I only buy emergency strings from them, and that is only if the mom and pop stores are closed.
I used to be capable of appreciating them as a store, but THEY went downhill very fast. It was not me learning more, or being more in "the know", it was them causing their own down hill slide. The employees are completely clueless....COMPLETELY CLUELESS !
