Just a matter of time for GC....

The employees are completely clueless....COMPLETELY CLUELESS !
I find this often, even with management. They will argue the dumbest things sometimes. It's like dude I just told you I have more guitars than your store does, why are you telling me what I want while simultaneously BSing me about it? Some of it is ridiculous and outright outlandish. It makes it very difficult to hand over my money when they try and make a customer feel like an idiot. I can't imagine the number of missed opportunities for beginners who may have been the next big thing if they started off on that foot.

the 3 near me are fully stocked both new and used.
plenty of foot traffic. Plenty people on line buying
what i dont like is they won't bargain on used gear

anytime i buy used i feel like i got shafted

From what I've been told, they stick to certain margins on used gear and a lot of the pricing comes down to one or two people based out of the Hollywood store. Not sure if that's true as it seems like a lot of work for few people, but they definitely don't budge until after a certain period of time has passed. Even then. But I guess that's part of going public. I don't think even the managers have a say on used for the most part. Makes sense from what I've seen, but this is all hearsay though.

i was just at the detroit (well, roseville) GC an hour ago. Their used section is insanely packed right now. Some sweet shit too, mostly with prices that actually reflect the current market. Sucks to be broke :(

they are actually projected to do better next year over this one... as with all music related sales. The used section deals are over however, someone found out they could profit more in this area and deals are few and far between..

flipping used GC gear on ebay in the late 2000's was like a 2nd job for me. i made thousands. several deals where i literally made 800-1000 in PROFIT on a single flip. Sadly, those days are long gone.

Yeah, they've supposedly been on the precipice for years, but never go anywhere. I personally can't wait for them to tank.

I hope it works out, if for nothing else the online used inventory is a great place to grab some deals from time to time.
100% agree! I haven't been inside a GC in years but I do still buy used gear from them.

I bought 4 used items from them at separate times from different stores. 3 were damaged and returned. If the first one wasn't the one that showed up safely I wouldn't have kept trying. All 4 were packed in boxes that were too big with barely any packing material, just got lucky on the first one I guess. One of them was a rare Lexicon Prime Time delay, totally destroyed. ?‍♂️

GC has shipped me a used guitar where the headstock was clearly snapped and hanging by a thread , even after I directly talked to an employee before purchase. You can’t trust that website or the dipshits they employ at all.

Occasionally I see a good deal come up, then remember that every pack job I hear about or see looks like the person that did it huffed paint just before they did it.
