Hi, im told this vh4 was retubed once since new.has 6550's currently...what 6550, 6l6, and el34's, plus preamp tubes, do you reccommend for this amp these days? thanks..

I'll say:
-power amp: sed "c" EL34 or 6550..maybe also ruby El34 bht.
-preamp: ruby 12ax7ac5HG+ in v1,v2 ruby 12ax7ac5HG in the other positions.

I prefer EL34s. Svets or Shuguang BHTs.

i preferred KT77s to the EL34s...and 6550s overall. It all depends on what you want.

You guys are great at helpin out here!....thanks again!....Ive had a 08 einstien for a while, wanted the vh4 for that more "old school" metal sound, but does modern well too.I think im gonna go for a fully EL 34 loaded herbert down the road...Im saving up for the elmwood preamp( if its a reality) too...i'll post a better avatar soon too..
