How many of you guys use a voltage regulater like the furman AR-15 series 2. I believe in protecting my gear it not only reg's the power coming into it but also filters the (noise ) from the current by takeing most of it out...

I have that exact one...works flawlessly....I have changed my rig and would entertain an offer if your interested.

I can get pics up...and shipped out to you this week, if your game.

Thanks. But I already have one, my fault I needed to rephrase the question in the heading. My dum dum :D

its cool...

I've switched to using just a Boss GT-10 direct to board. sounds pretty damn good. Not axe-fx good, but good enough for me. I dont have much need for a piece of gear as extravagant as mine. But I'll keep it til the offer comes....

My furman was a life saver when I did run my Peavey JSX. The bass was non existent in some clubs before I got it from not enough juice...

Its amazing how much of a difference they can make in your tone. By keeping the voltage where it needs to be:yes:

Not using the JSX anymore? :aww:

Just played an out door gig were a generator fried mine. Not sure if the fuse can be replaced I haven't pulled it from the rack yet. But I'm glad it was there. I had the power cord to another conditioner plugged into it, then to my equipment. That plug is all black from burn. Must have been a serious surge. But I am looking into getting another if mine can't be fixed. The new Furman model looks sweet.

Wow, what a revoltin predicament. Is this the model your thinking about? Furman P-1800 PFR Furman P1800 Pro Factor R

Yeah that's the one. I will be running 2 Soldano amps, powered wedges and the PA off of it. I have done this for years with no problems. 90% of the band - one plug. Never any issues until that damn generator during the 3rd set. :gethim:

That sucks dude. I talked to a Furman guy a few weeks ago and was asking him about the differences between their voltage regulators and the new P-1800 AR. According to him the main difference was their ability to run off generators: old Ar's can't run off generators and the new P-1800 AR (& PF) can. He said it had something to do with the sine waves (I believe it was sine waves, it's been awhile) produced by generators wreaks havoc on the AR series. He didn't say it would fry anything, but he did emphasize that if you ran it off a generator you'd have problems and recommended that outdoor giggers go for the P-1800 AR. I'd call Furman up and see if it can be fixed. Does it mention anything about the generator issue in the manual? If not, maybe you can get your money back or something.

Any direct experience with the wedge-shaped Power Factor Pro? I have a friend who complains about the regular Furmans. He says they do regulate the power, but do not provide enough juice for a 100 watt amp. He says the amps sound like they are starving of power.

I'm wondering if I'm going to notice something like this with a Power Factor Pro.

My advice: keep it. Your GT-10 will need the regulated voltage just as much, if not more, than a tube amp....IMO, YMMV.

I was planning on keeping it, was just thinking of selling it and downgrading a bit....

We put a P1800 in this rig:

As stated in an earlier post, a regulator is going to help make sure that your gear sees consistent voltage night after night. This client had show dates in Mexico and other places, seemed like good insurance to protect his gear and consistency. The only niggling thing about this piece is the center to center pitch of the 120VAC outs, they do not allow for some typical replacement ends. Shouldn't be a problem if you don't re-terminate your molded plugs or find narrower parts.

First post here, I know or have seen several folks around here on other boards, but to those I don't or haven't, 'Hello'.

All the best,
-barry.

I definitely need one, we play some place with some CRAPPY quality power and I need both consistend voltage and really clean power because this stuff is as dirty as it comes do to all kinds of screwy lighting;Neon etc...

I was thinking about one of the Power Factor Pro's..

Looks sweet, really clean. Where did you get the Red replacement ends?

Thanks, we appreciate it. You can actually get those at Lowe's (they're orange in person). The strain relief is not optimal, it counts on redirecting strain forces as opposed to actually clamping on the cable itself. I wouldn't make an extension cord out of them, but for fixed installs like this, they're suitable.

i have a power factor pro, the problem is that it does not regulate the power

I thought that was one of the things that it was supposed to do?
