For me it's the NATAS.

It's the tightest amp ive ever played playing wise but very musical and it can cover a lot of ground.

I find my the Triple recto to be really tight, and then with a boost it is even tighter. I can't believe some people are saying recto's aren't tight

Probably because they're not.

OK guys, so what's a loose amp? Xtc? I'm sure an XTC guys chime in 2 seconds later and tell me how tight his amp is.
Carvin Legacy = Super Tight :D

Well, for me that's tight enough.

I was kind of being sarcastic with that, but I find the triple can get pretty tight, It also has a lot to do with how you play, tight picking hand equals tight sound. That is my experience.

Tight is too loose a term. Some amps like the Uber have a tight solid bottom but messy pick attack. Some higher gain Marshall and similar amps track the pick attack very fast but then the bottom end mushes out.

Then you can have a super tight sounding Solid State setup that doesn't break up at all but it just doesn't feel very alive or responsive, so that won't feel very tight to some players.

So some amps are tight in certain areas, not in others. Just depends what works for your style as amp feel can be just as subjective as amp tone.

whatever amp I own right now is the tightest. subject to change in a week.

Recto and 6505 are the tightest amps?

My other amp is a 6505 and no way is it tight enough without help. Still a great amp but the Cobra I have kills it, pretty damn tight amp. I did dig some of the clips posted but doesn't always seem an amp sounds better on YouTube versus in your own home when you get it home

Recto's: only one I can think of that was really tight (at least for a Mesa unboosted) was the a Mark III cranked

VHT, Engl, and the Cobra are the tightest amps I've owned.

Something solid state.

Tubes would be (for me) the VH4, The Peters that Cyndicate owned, or something from VHT; probably the UL. Oh yeah, Cyndicate's Makoplex was tight as hell, too.

Well if by tight you mean the bottom end Is trimmed off without external gear the engl family wins this one. Not much below 300 hz in the blackmore I had.
Not sure why all these guys are saying diezel? They have huge bottom end AND an depth knob to boot at 120 hz!

I always associated tightness more with feel than sound..

Rhodes Colossus H-100!!!! I have one and it IS tight. Now compared to the Colossus, the recto=loose, Herbert is tightish as is the Powerball. The only amp coming close to the Colossus is another Colossus.

Yeah, it's more of an immediacy thing, to me.

How fast the amp responds is how I personally define "tight"

You think it's tight because it's what you've got. Try out some of the amps mentioned in this thread, then you will realize that the Recto is a sloppy mess.

For me, Diezel Herbert. It's in a league of it's own, fast picking or chugging away, it stays focused and the bass stays controlled. My VHT CLX and Framus Cobra are very tight, but not controlled in the low end like the Herbert.
