You think it's tight because it's what you've got. Try out some of the amps mentioned in this thread, then you will realize that the Recto is a sloppy mess.

So those clips I posted were sloppy messes?

For me, Diezel Herbert. It's in a league of it's own, fast picking or chugging away, it stays focused and the bass stays controlled. My VHT CLX and Framus Cobra are very tight, but not controlled in the low end like the Herbert.

Look what you just said to the last guy and insert it here. :D

I find my the Triple recto to be really tight, and then with a boost it is even tighter. I can't believe some people are saying recto's aren't tight

Probably because they're not.

OK guys, so what's a loose amp? Xtc? I'm sure an XTC guys chime in 2 seconds later and tell me how tight his amp is.

I was kind of being sarcastic with that, but I find the triple can get pretty tight, It also has a lot to do with how you play, tight picking hand equals tight sound. That is my experience.

I have tried out some of the amps mentioned in this thread, Including a Herbert, I thought it was a very loose amp. You can't say a recto is a loose amp when you haven't tried my rig with it. I am not saying your Herbert is loose, but the one I tried was. And as mentioned in this thread, their can be different types of tightness to an amp, not just bottom end tightness.

Well if by tight you mean the bottom end Is trimmed off without external gear the engl family wins this one. Not much below 300 hz in the blackmore I had.
Not sure why all these guys are saying diezel? They have huge bottom end AND an depth knob to boot at 120 hz!

I always associated tightness more with feel than sound..

Agh that's whwt they are asking so whwt they really mean is compressed IMO. Tight amps in terms of sound to me have the useless lows trimmed off. Amps with huge bottom can be loose and flabby.

I played a Natas last week and it was fucking tight...but not sterile. Turn a fuw knobs and it got looser with a chewy bottom end. I was super impressed

The Natas is the tightest amp I've ever owned. I've owned a lot of amps, and I love me some metal more than most.

Recto's are tight, 5150's can reach the pinnacle of tightness with a boost. Here's an example of a 5150, if you say this isn't tight, then you need to install the latest hearing software into your ears and listen again

I will get branded a fanboi but nothing in metal touches the Natas, nothing out there tracks like that amp. You may not like the voicing, which is very pleasent imo, but the final product tracking wise has no peer. It does take chops to get the real goods though, I need more right hand practice

Plus it is not a marshall mod which any goober with a radio shack iron can produce, it is a true R&D original.

Here's another recto clip:

I'm not saying it's the tightest amp in the world, but to keep calling it a "sloppy mess" is retarded.

Rectos imo have their place, cool amps in the right hands. Lots of huge albums were cut with them.

+1

Why don't we all make clips and hear who has the tightest amp?
