Guys building these high gain amp heads. Sweet.
Put a 3 minute Clip out.
2 minutes of it are ‘clean’ channel.
Last minute is a guitar neck position smothered in delay.
Maybe 10 seconds is the amp itself in the bridge No sound effects or drum tracks.
Not knocking these guys at all. But if I wanna hear the amp.....
Give me a stripped down ‘alone in the room ‘ demo.

Running into a phaser then 3 delay pedals with a slight bit of flanger and a tad bit delay topped off with
Some slight overdrive and a tad boost of overdrive. Played over nickleback drum tracks. But yes. This is the EXACT AMP!!
Buddy just sent me a clip of his new amp. Dear god. It was mind blowing.
No cleans No neck pickup swirls. It was bridge pickup into the lead channel.
Sorry for ranting. One of them nights.

Right? I've sent a few clips of just the amp+cab, nothing in between to a few guys here just text msg. It's just a few seconds worth of some chords and maybe a little run, just to give an idea of the tone in the room. That's all I need myself to hear the reality of the amp in question. FX just covers up stuff.

I have never understood people who make amp demos using delay and reverb. I don't want to hear your 2290, I want to hear your amp. And if you can't play without all that reverb, delay and chorus, you probably just suck.

My entire youtube channel is just based on in the room clips and I know they have become some peoples all time favorite clips to reference guitar tone. If we do wet clips we label it as such.

Backing track amp demos and cab sims are pointless. I mean YouTube and other sources can be great for getting a good idea of the overall tone.. some effects, mainly a tad of verb or delay some but not entirely thru out and no pro tools mixed. It is cool to hear some of the demo with a tad of effects but damn after a while it's pointless. Chug Chug nonstop or running scales non stop isnt really a demo imho. And the talking for 15 minutes of a 25 minute demo. Torture! STFUAP

this is exactly the kind of demo I look for.

I've done enough room recordings myself to be able to tell much more from this kind of vid, than a polished studio demo. Also helps if the demo-er is a strong player.

Another pet peeve of mine is an amp demo that's all lead solos.

I haven't ventured into putting my recordings into Youtube clips yet, but everything I record is straight up recording device (H2N Zoom at this point) placed in front of the speaker and zero FX other than a Ts9 out front to clean boost and an MXR eq in the loop. I record and upload to Soundcloud with zero post editing/processing. Just the raw recording. Nothing against guys that post processed clips, I enjoy those too for different reasons, but if I'm trying to gain a general sense of a particular amp, I want to hear as raw a recording as possible.

I never understood why someone would post a multi-tracked amp demo, and I hear them all the time. For a pure amp demo, I'd much rather hear guitar straight into amp recorded w/ an iPhone. For me at least, it gives a much better idea of what it truly sounds like "in the room". A decent miced recording is OK, but there are still too many variables (known and unknown) that could contribute to the final output.
