And it's going back....It is really good if all you have is clean. I can get the sound of the BE OD with my boogie and a boost.

Hey Big D. PO is good. I have leave so....I went out and bought this pedal today. I think it is more for the Marshall platform type amp. I saw Splawner really digs it and he knows tone. I say pick one up and see what you think. IMHO it is a straight up distortion pedal with the Friedman touch. It says OD but I disagree.

I was so tempted to get one but I`ve got my Splawn Super Sport and Competition and boosting those with a OD9 or Green Rhino gets me the tone I`m looking for. If I had a clean platform I`d be all over it

I returned mine after 2 days. Totally agree with the OP. Cool pedal for running straight into a clean channel but I prefer the tone of my Rev F and DSL 100 with a TS pedal or straight in.

I was super hyped about this pedal but my current amps have pretty good gain. I don't really need a completely clean boost. Was hoping this pedal was great for already dirty amps but it seems it works best if you are clean and boosting from there.

I'm sure it's a great pedal but Dave isn't silly enough to put out a $200 pedal that competes with his flagship $3K amp on equal levels. I'm sure the pedal delivers as a good OD but there are a ton of great OD's out there already that are much cheaper than $200 IMO.

So it doesn't work well at all for adding a little extra gain to an already medium over driven amp?

Not with either one of my amps...I prefer the boost of a traditional TS or SD-1 type of pedal. YMMV.

It did sound very good through the clean settings of my amps, but that's not what I would want it for...

I think the main intent of this pedal was to be played into a clean amp or maybe a slightly crunchy amp, I will be trying mine into a Fender clean tomorrow!!

Hmm, threads like these actually make me want to try one. I like the BE type tone, but I'm happy enough just boosting the high input of my 2204 with an SD1. But it'd be cool to run into the low input and have that great clean tone and then be able to step on a pedal like this for high gain stuff.

Did you try reducing the overall gain with the trimpot inside the pedal? You're supposed to turn that down if you use it as an OD.

This pedal is supposed to function as a straight up distortion or an OD depending on where you set that internal trimpot. The first ones shipped have the trimpot set all the way up and are now shipping with the trimpot at 50%, which is still quite a bit of gain.

I'm interested in trying it with my Fender Vibrolux (which is a very clean tone). I'd like to use the Vibrolux sometimes for grab and go gigs because it's a little 40 watt 2x10.

But I need a full-on rock tone for cover gigs. I was hoping the BE-OD would fit the bill.

I`m still tempted to try one as an OD/Boost. They say there are no dumb questions so can the gain trim pot turned all the way off, just wondering what that that would do to the overall gain but I guess I`d have to give it a try

Yup...I did this. Again, it wasn't a bad pedal by any means but not what I'm looking for with my rig. I'm sure I'll pick up another one up on the used market down the road when prices come down a bit. Please don't misconstrue my post...not saying it was a bad pedal at all.

I wouldn't take the opinion of a guy comparing this to the gain in his Boogie very seriously.

Oh i wasn't thinking you were dogging on it. Just making sure you were aware of the trim-pot is all.

What did it do? Lots of color? Did it tighten things up or act like a regular 808 OD?
