This pedal is supposed to function as a straight up distortion or an OD depending on where you set that internal trimpot. The first ones shipped have the trimpot set all the way up and are now shipping with the trimpot at 50%, which is still quite a bit of gain.

But I need a full-on rock tone for cover gigs. I was hoping the BE-OD would fit the bill.

Yes. I brought the trim pot all the way down. I reconnected it to my rig and I have to say I got some interesting tones. Guys....I am not saying this is a bad pedal. As a matter of fact, it is an excellent pedal. I will only add a pedal to my board if it offers something different than what I already have. [/url]

I'm sure it's a great pedal but Dave isn't silly enough to put out a $200 pedal that competes with his flagship $3K amp on equal levels. I'm sure the pedal delivers as a good OD but there are a ton of great OD's out there already that are much cheaper than $200 IMO.

He's comparing amp gain to pedal gain and the general character of "gain" already being achieved by another amp making the pedal gain redundant. Made sense to me..
First off, it's a 4K amp after taxes. Second, you're getting shit on because how fn dare you question or not dig Friedman stuff? No offense to Dave and Co but Christ, the owners of these amps have become as bad as the EVH police a few years back. Funny shit really. They can't imagine anyone not thinking a Friedman is "the bestest amp evar!"...Kapo_Polenton":21ejnnwh said:jlb32":21ejnnwh said:I was super hyped about this pedal but my current amps have pretty good gain. What I have been saying and getting flack for... not hate, he just could not and would not pack the abilities of a 3k amp into a pedal. Of course you guys are going to like amp gain + a boost better! I would guess that these would be enjoyed by people who might go through a cab impulse like the two notes pedal that also has power amp simulation. Like the Bogner stuff, maybe through a good effects loop into the power section.
