It is so inspiring to play an amp like this. The amp was fantastic to begin with with stock tubes, but I had some tubes lying around so why not experiment. I think the NOS GE 12AX7 pre-amp tubes made the most difference. The Chinese ARS 12AX7 tubes that came in the amp seemed to compress out at a really low gain. The GE tubes let me turn the gain up more and still get good note articulation and punch, also harmonics and feedback seem to be sweeter with the GE pre-amp tubes. Power-amp was hard to tell at low volume. I haven't cranked it up yet. In this video the master volume is on 1 and the gain is on 5. Power-amp tubes are TubeStore Preferred Series 7189 (premium EL84).

Nice! Sounds great!

I was actually thinking of messing with my taco's tubes too.. was thinking of a high gain tube set for my metal/thrash stuff and a cleaner blues sounding set. I have never messed with tubes and have no real knowledge on how to go about. Was going to ask my local guitar shop I go to for advice but if anyone has some ideas I am all ears ;)
