So the 210H at the local dealer has these flimsy, bendy, weak knobs. Really scary stuff. I read about this, but thought they chasis mounted these now?
The 410H next to it had solid, secure knobs. They even turned slower and smoother. Much better and more confident in those for sure.
But that is a deal breaker for me on the 210H. Sucks because the 410H is a little excessive feature wise for me.

My JVM 210h had sturdy feeling knobs. Man, I could've pulled those knobs aaaalll day long without feeling like they were going to pop off all over the place :D Seriously though, get them to order you a new one, you don't want one of the floor anyways.

I know the 410's got the better pots, and would think the 205 and 210 would be the same way since they are all the JVM series. Is it possible the 210H is an older model before the changes were made?

My thoughts as well.

Definitely ask for a new-in-box one. I mean-that's what you're paying new prices for!

I had an older model 410 that was the same way. It felt really cheap.

Yah, I remember when they first came out the knobs were so wobbly, I didnt trust them. I didnt look at JVM's again until the past few months when I found out they made the change. I understand the reasoning was to supposedly relieve pressure off the board, but I think they should have used multiple control pot boards then. I mean 1 hit to the volume pots would cause the contacts to bend and the pot to potentially break since it isnt being reinforced.

Mine is 4 years old, had beer run down the front, 40-50 jams and several outdoor gigs with zero failures.

Plenty safe for basements.

I know there were not alot of problems with them, but I would still be so paranoid with it.

It is a fucking amp, it is not like sending your kid to school for the first time with some stranger driving a huge yellow bus.

A stupid amp, nothing more.

Very true

I was a tad strong with my statement, I am sorry for that.

Some guys though need to rethink how they view their stuff.

Its all right man, no offense taken.

Alright I've come to my own conclusion. Thanks to Hoff, LP Freak & mrkmas for the seemingly only helpful insight on the matter. I'm stepping away now from this topic before it pushes anymore buttons.

The ol' JVM knob thing.

Give me a fucking break.

Guess your 4 years of ownership and hard gigging do not matter Jason to the OP

Not true at all. I listen to all insight. When it's given that is.

Wasn't meaning to be a dick at all. This topic was beaten into the ground a few years ago. I was surprised to see it revived, that is all.

Giles breathed some new life into the JVM knob situation when Marshall started bolting them to the chassis. He took close up pics of the bolted on knobs and everything.

My guess is now because of the change to the 410H's knobs, people are expecting the 210H's to have the knobs bolted down as well.
