I run a Timmy pedal set to full clean as a lead boost which gets the gain up to the 3 o’clock level on the amp. I’m running EMG 81/85 pickups.

Well, I've been lucky enough to have just purchased one of my grail amp's. Uberschall Rev. Green #339 (▲▲ lightning bolt.). Best amp I have ever played! Has a new matched set of JJ el34's, and the preamp tubes are (1-6) toung-sol, 12ax7b china, 12ax7b china, 12ax7a JoLida, 12ax7 Holland, 12ax7eh. I asked the previous owner about the pre-amp tube selection, and he got the amp as it is today (excluding the new set of power tubes he did a few months back). Right now, I'm just getting to know it and really dig those low mids! I may play with moving some tubes around once i get to know it better. I know this is an older thread but lots of good info for a person new to the older ubers.

There’s an early rev blue local to me with the symbol serial that I’m seriously considering picking up. Would that be the closest bridge to a rev green? I hear good things but I don’t want to shell out for a rev green.

i can't speak to the rev blue, but i can get my ultra (el34) pretty close to my green, maybe 90%. There is just something about the green in how it sits forward and is chewy and raw, whereas the ultra is more surgical/cutting. i will say that the ultra is more vestal, and the tones you can get from channel 1 with the right boost are great. If i was doing the band thing and had to have one do it all amp, it's the ultra. But the rev green is my #1.

Well, here's a funny story. About six months ago I stated hunting a rev green. Over those six months I found three, on all three we came to a deal and right when it was time to make payment the sellers backed out saying they wanted to keep it. I can't blame them now that I know how awesome they are, but it was such a roller coaster. Finally, the fourth one I found I was able to purchase #339. I have been loving everything about this amp and it's the sound I've been looking for. So, about a week ago I got an email from one of the sellers who backed out asking if I was able to secure a rev green and stated he was ready to sell. Well yesterday I took delivery on my second rev green #266! I plan on doing some a/b comparisons and setting up an epic stereo rig! more to come...

Well i got some time this weekend to play with both amps. I have found that #266 is a little brighter and more mid (bite) focused than #339. I decided to pull the chassis out and take a look at them side by side. Here is what i can see that is different between the two. First pic is #266. I am no amp tech so i posted these pics in a Bogner FB group and got this response...

Looks like #266 has the extra V1 board! Very cool! Those boards were on a small handful of the Rev2s and it changed up the mids, bass and gain, basically the input of the amp and how it reacted to the guitar from what I gather. Mine also has some extra board but it’s on turret board and all done by hand (more prototype) but also has a lot of wizardry done on V2, fairly similar to V1 that also reshaped the bass to be even more tight, and much more useable but still HUGE and 3D. There was a lot of experimenting going on back then on those early Überschalls, and sometimes you come across those Frankenstein Ubers. Very cool for sure! Those extra V1 board Ubers are pretty desirable!

It's cool both amps have their own thing going on, #266 is a bit more aggressive while #339 is chewy and deep. I picked up a quad set of '99 v30's and they match up great with the two greens. Can't wait to pick up a Morley ABC pro and run them together.
