Come on guys, give Kirk a break. His solos, no matter what they took to produce, have been the best metal has seen from a melody standpoint in its entire history. He does have talent in giving his solos the emotion-filled-yet-still-metal thing.

I'd like to see his critics buy his wah and prove to me they could do better. The wah has been available to every guitarist for forty years. And very few, if any, have created what Kirk created.

+1.

He's why I picked up a guitar.
I never wanted a wah tho (fear of just being a clone) untill a few weeks ago, almost ten years after I played my first chord.

TBH most people are jealous cause he's badass and was in the biggest band ever. they want to be like him,

That's the same shit my mother pulled when I got picked on as a kid. "They're just jealous." What a copout. Sure, some are, but most probably aren't. I'm not jealous of Hammett's playing or skill, or the fact he's in Metallica. I loved Metallica when I was younger, but I'd never, ever want to be in that band.

You'd never ever want to be in Metallica?

That has to be the internet poser claim of the century.

I can think of many people that use the wah more creatively/better.

Jimi Hendrix
Steve Wilson
Joe Satriani

the list goes on.

The list hardy goes on. List some more. You're 0 for 3.
Robin Trower
Steve Vai
Uli Roth
Frank Marino
Michael Schenker
Eric Clapton
Jeff Beck
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Carlos Santana

Need more?

Honestly, I dont. Sorry to burst your "Metallica is the end-all-be-all" bubble, but that's how it goes. I enjoy the music, but it's not the music I would want to write or play on nightly basis.

You also have a lot of nerve coming on this board and calling people posers for having different opinions. I hope you don't venture into the Off-Topic board, your head might explode. Quit licking Metallica's collective asshole, and deal with the fact that some people on this planet may not like them/Hammett as much as you. :jerkit:

Welcome to the community, get your head out of your ass.

i've got my dime wah, thing does pretty much everything i need it too.

mind you i don't use it too much...

I'm not a Hammett fan and I'll pick Megadeth over Metallica any day, but I've got to say, the KH wah clips I've heard sound pretty damn good and I'm anxious to try one! I still have an original crybaby in both my boards but I don't use them at all. I'm thinking the KH might get some use.

I have the Kirk Hammet wah...and it is exactly what I was looking for in a wah sound. I had the DSR-1 and couldnt quite get his sound right. Even with the wah settings.

I've had it about 3 weeks now and love it. It took a bit to get used to as it does have a much lower range, so the breaking point of the Q was a bit higher in the foot travel than I'm used to, but I'm adjusting.

To my ears, it is dead nuts to his wah sound that you hear on albums from the 90's and such...its not his current live sound. I'm running it into a boss gt-10 and it sounds great with every patch I have setup. The only video demo I saw had it running into a pedal of sorts and it still sounded great.

     out of

My local shops are behind the times and don't have one in yet lol...anxious to try it though!

I did a wah shootout last year, pretty much all the dunlop stuff, and still stuck with my GCB95. My Dad modded his GCB95 though and the thing RIPS! I might just have him do the same on mine if the KH doesn't do it for me. I've yet to try the EVH wah...I don't know if there's one of those locally either.

Thanks for the review The_Kid!

Yeah I'm glad I stuck it out. I almost returned it cause I couldnt get used to the sweep. But now that I'm getting used to it, it frees up the expression pedal on the GT10, so more effects toys in the 10 that I can play with....although it is a slightly extra reach to reach it now.... :aww:

Oh. I thought it just came out. Maybe the magazine I was reading was a year old

Just from memory, an open jam I jumped in at. The guys pedal board had the Slash wah on it, that sounded very vocal to me and sounded great. It just doesnt have the low end thickness that the KH does...something else to try out if you dont like the wider low end of hte KH.
