Mustaine says he’s extending his absence, period. Member departures have never gone this way in Megadeth so it seems both parties are trying their best to ensure Kiko can return at some point.

Seems to me this is a mutual soft departure. You don't have all these statements from just an extended absence.

For sure. As good, (and in some ways better), than Marty. Definitely the best one since. Broderick is an insane player, but very robotic and boring. Mad skills though..

MF set the bar for Archetype Megadeth lead player. All others are trying to fill that position.
Touring must be difficult if you're older and have roots down..

Dave loves his power metal guitarists. Both Kiko and Teemu (the new guy) are from epic power metal bands. Kiko was amazing in Angra, worth checking out their early stuff, it's a bit musical theater but I like it! Timu plays in Wintersun who do basically hollywood level black metal haha.

Wonder why he aims for power metal guys...
