I do not seem to recall this  Will have to check some stuff out, all I know is that the singer is the better guitar player :D

Yeah...I agree 100%. I went thru a Bullet Boy phase when they first came onto the scene. My band opened for them at some little dive here in Ca. around 2001, but the original guitarist wasnt in the band. Ill never forget they wouldnt let us mic our amps because they didnt want to "move" the mics after thier annoyingly long soundcheck. I just laughed it off.....But yeah, that guy was talented and had a good sound for sure.

opened for the "bulletboys" a week ago ( not really bulletboys..singer and some other noname dudes).. the singer played lead guitar all night and did a good job ( he auditioned for Kiss and Ozzy back in the day)...

Didnt the original guitarist die in the fire playing with Great White?

they were at a benefit show I saw at long beach arena, lynch mob played as well. I wasnt a bullet boys fan but when they played, he had a half stack, some old non master of course. that thing was just singing away big time. Awesome tone. I could hear the cabinet itself before they got it all mic'd up. It was dimed and tuned perfectly.

Never liked his tone at all, nothing like Van Halen in my opinion

No. Mick Sweda was the original guitarist. He's alive and well, playing with the original bassist and drummer from Bulletboys.

Ty Longly was the guitarist who died in the Great White fire. He may have played with Bulletboys at somepoint in the recent years, since Sweda left a long time ago. Jason Hook was also in the band for about 15 minutes several years ago. They've had a revolving door of guitar players.

Was a mild fan of the band; the guitar player was good. The tone was pretty dry and I remember him sounding a little sloppy when he played fast, but that was probably due to fighting a dry amp.

The singer had a set of pipes though. I don't know if he still does, but I loved the way he sang.

That's because Marq is an asshole and not very few people on earth can stand his severe case of LSD.. Lead Singer Disease.

I agree though, great band, great tones. Their first album and Freakshow are two of my favorites. It was an honor to work for them, for about 5 minutes, which is about all it takes to sum up Marq.

Not a huge fan but the original guitar tone is awsome. Nice and open and raw!!!

I remember alot of reverb.
I opened for them 2 years ago.FUN!

I remember reading that he was playing "Bark at the moon" before Jake was ever in Ozzy's band   . I seem to remember Randy wrote the song...but died before getting it to tape? Urban Legend?
Laugh all you want, but I was at the Charvel factory in '82 right after Randy died and watched Mark Torien (Bulletboys singer who looked like EVH at the time) play "Bark at the Moon" before Jake was even in the band. Grover introduced us to Mark as Ozzy's new guitar player and he was picking up a couple of Charvels on Ozzy's tab, including a red/white bullseye which you can see him playing on some old videos on YouTube with Ratt during his short stint with them. The guy friggin' ripped on guitar. I have no idea who wrote the song, but I heard what I heard and my friend, who was there to buy a bass at the time, also saw this and we discussed it recently.

I have no reason to make this up... what purpose would it serve all these years later?

Steve

that is cool, I would have loved to have been out here back in those days.

I don't hear great guitar when I hear bulletboys' early albums
but
I saw them for the 1st time a couple years ago and he still has the voice and his guitar was great, cause he was being more 70s, not 80s at all

but I am always amazed when someone can be great or just really good or descent on guitar AND have a freaking high range like that

I am a bass singer, not even baritone, forget about tenor
I'm so jealous of singers, cause they are born with it

I like "for the love of money" . Everytime I hear it I get a smile on my face ..I like the ringing open G chords after the solo , it just has something I dig .

I'm not a jake e lee fan, but isn't that "the riff that jake e lee is known for?"
and he didn't write it
wow

Cool story. I wasnt laughing at the story or situation, just the fact that Jake didnt write it, but I believe takes credit for it. ;)
Gotcha - and, once again, I have no idea who wrote the song, but I did hear Torien play it before Jake was involved with Ozzy... but who knows, maybe he heard Jake playing something like that and copped it... no idea...

Steve

Don't think I ever heard one of their songs, I must be messed up. What do you suggest a good one to downlo...I mean purchase? :D
