I really don't get all the hate for this guy.......are people really that mad at him?
The average music buying public(that aren't guitar players)don't even know what a vibrato is, let alone if it's off pitch.
They don't know what a wah pedal is, let alone if it's overused or not.
Someone said in another post that it comes off as jealousy, and that's all I can see.......this board is full of a nice mix of guys that play classic rock, metal, nu-metal, classical, and pretty much every other kind of guitar based music out there.
But what I see most as far as hater threads and off the cuff comments go is hating on Kirk.
His vibrato might not be the best. He might overuse his wah(HIS wah, you know......the one with his fucking NAME on it, that sells all over the country and the world? Yeah, that wah).
So fuckin what? Do all the haters play at their absolute BEST everytime they pick up a guitar? Really, do you? Is he not allowed to have an off night, and off month, or even an off year? He's been doing this for 30 YEARS, man......he's been doing this longer than some of the guys on this board have been ALIVE, and he's written some of the best music in his genre.
Can ANY of you haters say the same? Did any of you write the solo for Sanitarium? The rhythm for Disposable Heroes? The clean passages for Fade to Black? Have ANY of you written what was arguably the 3 or 4 most influential albums in metal and gotten them certified platinum without ANY radio play or video rotation?
Or....you know....are you just playing in your mom's basement or at a local club for 53 people who are so drunk and desperate for a night out that you could pretty much play anything and they'd cheer you because after paying the $4 cover to see your 'band', you actually think they've showed out to see you, and your super tight vibrato and your controlled as hell wah pedal?
What if every single time you posted a vid here of your playing all anyone ever said was that you overused your EMGs, or that your vibrato blows......every single time?
Are you all so bitter and angry about the music career or lack thereof that you have, that the only outlet that you have is to start a hater thread about a fellow musician?
Take it for what it's worth......I think constructive criticism is all good......but just bashing something over and over for no other reason than you don't like it or are jealous of it is just lame in the highest sense of the word.
And that's what all the bashing around here is. Lame.
Music is supposed to be, above all.....fun. I think maybe some people here have forgotten that.
Rant over, bash on.
