Honestly I don't think anyone gets past trying an 18v once they plug in the 9v and turn it on :LOL: :LOL: Never even crossed my mind. I see know reason to try it but who knows.
 
18v sounds slightly cleaner/open. I don't think it's a night and day difference, but I do prefer 18v. Try it.
 
It is just a matter of headroom, nothing else. If you have other pedals in front if it or very hot pickups you might benefit from higher than 9, might. No reason not to use it though if you have the supply
 
I run mine at 16v through my BBE supa charger. I think it sounds more open... sounds more like a part of your amp.
Subtle but it's there.
