Kramer/Gibson Eruption - Update

Honestly these Kramer pups are really underrated......


I played a Chinese Kramer 84 and wasnt expecting much it really delivered thanks to the pups..... Very thick, Sponge like, smooth but rough when needed....


Overall very supple and just amazing..... Like Burstbuckers but more modern and more beefy.

Looking at the specs for the Kramer eruption, it reads like it is a short leg 4 conductor version of the Gibson 70s tribute. It is possible that they share the same winds and magnet.


I tried one of the 70s trib recently and it was pretty awesome. Like a JB with less shrill high end when wired with a 500k pot. Reminded me of the Rio Grande BBQ bucker.

I'm normally a lower resistance pickup guy as I dig the clarity, but the 14.8k was just right for higher gain with my Fryette stuff. Old school Marshall was a good fit also but the new dsl OD2 sounded stuffy with the higher output.
I rarely go to OD2, just throwing it out there if that is where you roam.

FWIW on the EVH note the Seymour 78 and Gibson 57 classic plus seem to have very similar specs also. My 57+ gets the VH1 & 2 and keeps great clarity. I'm knocking on wood here to not summon that guy that argues the VH tones.

IMO it's a shame Kramer uses these in Chinese models or not so much that and more that the 84 HH models arent Made in Indonesia, they play great and sound great thanks to the USA Kramer pups but the Indonesian versions are just Nicer overall and they should be Made in Indonesia for that money not China.



I don't SEE myself spending 1,000$+ on Chinese S-Types....... No matter how good they are especially when they could be Made in Indonesia like the regular 84.


Ima for sure check out a new 84 as the new ones come with the Eruption bucker instead of the JB they usually used and are Made in Indonesia still and are pretty damn good Quality and better than Korean stuff Ive played too.



Best way I could put it as someone else said, it's just like a better JB with more vintage snarl but with just the right stuff on the modern SIDE. It just sounds more like a traditional PAF but hella juiced up.



Pretty epic for a production Pup and Nicer than your average stuff too.

Honestly in this sense the 84 HH is a fumble on Kramers SIDE and Gibsons side......


The next ones should just be like the 84 but Made in Indonesia and no compound BS or Baked Maple Neck/Cookies like everyones GrandMah makes..... Just Make it HH and Made in Indonesia with the USA Kramer pups and the extra tone control knobs.....


Why can't they do that......


No Chinese S-Type is as good as anything Made in Indonesia IMO.... The Les Paul type stuff is Nice but yeah the Chinese S-Types are okay at Best..... The Indonesian stuff is fantastic by comparison and better than Korean stuff IMO.

This and maybe offers different Metallic Colors or stuff like the Epiphone Futura Colors..... Maybe some pastel colors too..... Make an "Evil 84" with a Tele Type body and single pup and Floyd......

Stuff like that and don't make them in China.....


The stuff would be much better received especially with the Kramer USA pups and stuff IMO
