they're pretty similar, the clip with the kt88 sounded more tight, so i voted for it but i liked both for their intention. Did you tried different kt88 in your uber or just went to the winged C's? i'm wondering myself too to go and mod my rev blue for the kt88....but since they're pretty expensive i'm wondering if going with other brand will sound just as good...

I like JJ in the Uber as well, the mids are a bit juicier which actually helps the amp.
also the Tung Sols are alright (I'm using those in my Kranks), but I guess the =C= are the best ones, but you're right, they're quite pricey.
the JJ sound as good IMO, but a bit different, so it's really a matter of taste I guess

Nice clips, i liked the el34 the best, mids sounded better to me.

I personally prefer KT88's in my Twin Jet, although there are times when the EL34's are really nice. The KT88's have a tighter bottom end that I really like and more of a scooped midrange.

What are you boosting the amp with?

Sounds great man! Thanks for doing this comparison. Is it a Rev 2 or Rev Blue?

KT88's. I'm hating EL34's in my TJ, I don't know why in the world that was so popular for a while to screw up the TJ and put 34's back into them.

Is the amp a uber or tj, i had both at the same time and sold the tj.
They are different amps to me, im seeing people making comments about the tj and thats why im asking what version uber you have. Didnt sound like a tj to me.

sounds like it, the clips are good, i hope to hear more in the future.

1st off, Great Chops, Killer Song!!
The KT-88's have more BALLS in your
song, it's more in your face.
The EL-34's sound good but are a touch
smoother, less Ballsy.

I think it depends on a few factors. I loved the EL34's in my TJ, but KT88's sounded great also. Gary loves the Gold Lion 77's in his. I would love to hear a TJ with 6550's personally. Not even sure if that is possible.

Even on my Bose speakers, there's very little difference. The EL34's have a bit more sag and fuller mids.

Yeah, Gold Lion 77's or 6550's are probably the best bet for the TJ. 88's can be too dry and glassy and 34's sag and compress too much and don't hold the low end/low mids together well enough. All IMO, of course. :) The amp was certainly designed around a higher headroom tube than 34's. The bigger bottles have more clarity/less compression and even though they don't have as much mids as a 34, this more than makes up for it.

I prefer the KT's in my Uberschall, seems to get more chug to it.
Clips sounded good but the difference wasn't in my face.
