Just want to say (late, and maybe too late, since the Hagen is up...), that the VH4 is an incredible amp ;)

Serious - I owned the Einstein, have the Schmidt now, but happened to play a VH4 (testing a cabinet at the big T...) and it is the best amp in sound and versatility, I played yet - and I even didn't tweak the eqs, set all at noon.
I had the wrong idea (and unfortunately was told so), that the VH4 fits more to the modern heavy stile of rock/metal. I was wrong - clean, crunch, lead and the heavy sounds too - all perfect!

I understand now, why players praise this amp. I'm ashamed, very late!

dont be ashamed! at least you admitted your faults.. LOL

It does a lot of things very very very well.

I own a VH4S, been teetering on selling it or not, I've had a V in my life for 5+ years, I think it's more just itchy ears making me want something else; but anytime I hit that beast off standby, I wonder what on earth else I could want :dunno:

Without getting into the Herbert versus the Einstein versus the V versus the Schmidt versus the Hagen versus.... I think it's safe to say that the Power Peters (heh heh!!) do a great job making sure overlap is minimal in each of their amps; and there's not one truly "best" out of the range of models available. They're all offering something different, which is very smart on behalf of Diezel HQ, and very fortunate for those of us who have the pleasure of owning one or four of their products.

I've noticed since the introduction of the Hagen, a lot of threads coming out of the woodwork about how everyone is just SO pleased with their current Diezel (whatever it may be less the Hagen), and this is probably a case of second guessing ones own wants, needs and wishes. We post our accolades on the forum hoping for support to help us pass the gas for this new Diezel addition. Psychology 101, and it's totally normal.

Bottom line, they make some of, if not the, best amps on the planet IF it's the sound you're looking for. I think with the new Hagen, they're trying to capitalize on the hot rodded set; the open rockin' tones of Cameron, Bogner, Splawn, Marsha, etc. all with their own distinct Diezel tone and feel. If that's what they've accomplished? Then that's a markedly new amp in the Diezel line up, and will be a praised product for sure

But it doesn't mean it's better than what you've got. It's just a new model

Peace,
V.

Come on V, you've been around the dive long enough. It's the "Flavor of the month syndrome..." a.k.a. FOTMS. I've recovered from this dreadful disease five+ years ago after being introduced to Herbert.

Just saying.

Oh, hey, fo' shizzle... But this Hagen is definitely trying to sate the tastes of the hot rodded market, which to me is going to play out very interestingly. That's it that's all. It's a different breed - same species, but it's a different breed from what I'm seeing and hearing.

Peace :salute:

If da Herb was all dat, then Peter would have only one amp under his banner, no?

I've said it before, will say it again, the Power Peters are very wise - they've made amps to suit the tastes of varied players. A schmidt cat wouldn't gel as well with a herb, know what I mean? The einy's got its own thing going on, and slays the tex mex scene like none other. The V is the V, the original poo-bear of signature tone. The herb was made for cats looking for a looser more "familiar" vibe, just so happens it comes with thunder on tap. Now the hagen is out, why? Because the Power Peters saw a niche to satisfy. So it is what it is, it'll be interesting to see how the hagen plays out.

On a side note, I've had a V in my life for 5+ years. I've been gravitating more towards my Mak4 and 20thX due to their gnarl... There's a special grunt to them the V doesn't have. The V's got its kazy uber rubber walled metal straight jacket thang happening (for those that don't understand, this is a very good thing!!), but I may be more in line to want a hagen than a herbert for the very reasons I dig my X so much, know what I mean?? I will say this, the 'bert is a gorgeous amp - no doubt about it - but does it cut as well as an Einy or V?? Not so much. For recording cats as opposed to gig players, this won't matter much... But for those in a live environment, this might tip the scales for said purchaser to go with the Einy, V and now Hagen over the Herb.

So there is no 'perfect' and 'best' Diezel - they are ALL awesome at what they do. And by having a growing lineage of models, they're doing more and more as time trucks on...

Peace K-Crizzle,
V-to-da-Sonic-Sizzle!!
