Laney Super Grace Pedal Kicked Ass at Band Practice

Had band practice earlier today and decided 9t was a good time to give the Laney Super Grace pedal a whirl and test the volume, tone, etc.

Sounded amazing and was really loud. It is 60 watts and I had it at probably 1 o'clock when practice started and moved to about 2 o'clock and was perfect. I played most of practice with the Super Grace and my Orange 1x12 and sounded really good.

Near the end of practice I plugged into my Synergy 20IR and believe it or not, I kind of preferred the Laney Super Grace. I was boosting it with a Keeley Noble Screamer and just had a great sound. The Synergy was good too but the Laney was working great. Then I plugged into my Orange Vertical 2x12 cab and it was epic sounding. Low end filled in, less boxy sound, etc.

I ordered a Orange Super Crush 100 Head (third time, lol) because I realized I never had my Orange cab when I had the head before. I feel like I can either gig with the Orange Super Crush 100 and have the Laney on my pedalboard as a backup or use the Laney and get a backup. I thibk it sounds that good. Just easy to use and not harsh and great for gigging.

I just wish it was a little less money because it would be a fun addition, but not a main amp I would use with what I have. Not gigging, I don’t play what I already have nearly enough.

Yeah I noticed the other two pedals are less. My intention is to use it as a backup but it is funny, I've been playing it in my room every night and have barely touched my other amps.

I do think it needs an overdrive boost for metal but could definitely play it without.

Awesome man, glad to hear you are happy. I gotta say after scoping out the super grace it's def VBF approved as it has the prerequisite mini toggelz on board for your enjoyment. That'd be sweet to have as a backup, but is def pricey. Sounds like it's worth it though.

It is a bit pricey but the collaboration with Billy Corgan, you can tell they put things in there with the gigging musician in mind. Some reverb in there, a boost, three ways to shape the tone, etc.

At some point in time I need to think about a lightweight, compact backup in case I ever have amp issues at a show. I have a 2nd Twin but the issue is fitting it our bluesmobile since gas prices make the band van unviable for most gigs right now. I'm leaning towards the pedal baby but I'll def take a good look at this. Thanks for posting about it.

There's 2 other versions of the loud pedal, which are less money. GC used has a handful of them, too.

P.S. They're made in the UK, which is why they're a little pricier.

You know how I dig Orange stuff. The Super Crush, specifically the clean channel, is the Pedal Baby in a case. I actually thought about getting a Pedal Baby and a great amp like pedal. I wanted to like the Gain and Dual Baby amps but the noise and pops in the effects loop ruined that idea.
