No. low impedance output with a high impedance input. You will not be able to hear the high impedance differences of the front end.

Fryette & THD are pretty much the only amps I have been using for years. Some people boost Fryette amps .... I do not feel it is needed but do use them to alter the color sometimes. But you loose detail in response adding anything is my experience...D-Rock":3fu6fupv said:Yeah, my original post was about guitar>cable>amp.stephen sawall":3fu6fupv said:Reading this thread I get the feeling many people do not understand what "plugged straight in" means ....
Guitar>Amp>Cab
If you add anything other than these three elements or are using the loop at all that is not "plugging straight in".... That is something else.
I see guys saying they plug straight in and only have a compressor, switcher, volume or wah in front. That's not what I was getting at.
Even my best TB pedals take something away from the feel/touch when in front. I'm thinking its the extra cabling...
So I'm only looking for amps now that can perform without gadjets in front of it. I'm waiting to close a deal on a VHT UL as a result, and ditching one of my "boost needed" amps. I anticipate great results from the VHT in that regard.

I have never heard amp selector that does not effect the sound & feel built by anyone. Obviously some are better than others. Just changing cable lengths can change the sound & feel. You can not add or subtract ANYTHING without effecting the sound to some degree ???

is this zero?
I love it!! Greatness that cant be beat is to crank up that rig!!rsm":35j7z71r said:Today. Finally got everyone out of the house, closest neighbors are away for the weekend. My ears hurt!!!!
BC Rich Chuck Schuldiner Tribute Stealth direct into my Engl rig with the power amp's volumes at half (noon), and preamp clean channel at 9-10 o'clock, lead channel at noon-1 o'clock (clean channel is much louder at same gain/volume setting?). It was loud, righteously loud then I hit the gain switch on the power amp and felt like I was punched in the chest. stuff in the room started shaking, controlled feedback on just about everywhere when I let single notes ring out, and the guitar was vibrating nicely in response...full circuit.
after some Sepultura, Megadeth, Maiden and Sabbath riffs for some reason I started channeling Mick Mars?!...the sound had a Mick Mars character to it (IMO), but much meaner with more saturation, but still had that Mars vibe. I haven't played this stuff in years (decade?!)
this camper is happy.![]()

is this zero? Not at all .... only zero is zero ?
I understand what you are saying .... but that certainly should never be called zero by anyone for any reason. You could add a billion trillion more (0) before the (1) if you want ~ still not zero....

I took calculus my first time in collage .... Did they not cover the fact it is all estaments where you studied ? This topic was covered the first few days where I studied. It is not like other maths where real numbers are only used. Terms like "approaching zero", "near zero" apply .... "zero with limits" is not zero.glpg80":2240sg8x said:stephen sawall":2240sg8x said:glpg80":2240sg8x said:.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000001

In calculus where you apply limits for integrals which are slopes of a tangent, that would be called zero with limits. The same applies to the impervious quest for tonal oblivion. How far do you go before you draw the line. Some go even further, swapping brands of caps, resistors, etc. lead length, location, you could go on and on.![]()

A bit off topic / humorous and certainly not important.

All my pedals color my tone. Every single one, to one degree or another.
The feel, the attack and the response of straight in had obviously been lost on me.
Guitar > 6505 = WOW!
The only pedal that I couldn't hear interfering is a Decimator in the loop with an 11:00 setting, so that's where it stays. (I did feel a small affect when it was in front of the amp)
Fuck the front end / operating noise. (I can deal)
Screw boosts. (Getting used to it)
Forget the tone sucking line of connector/jumper cables. (Always hated the clutter)
I can't sacrifice that natural straight up feel anymore.
So, have you disconnected your life support system (AKA a pedalboard/rack) lately?
