My dad had a SHITTY nylon string in the closet, my parents saw me fucking around with it and started me with the fucking Mel Bay lessons at the local music store, learned the cowboy chords etc and I HATED it. Did that for a few years, then dropped it for a while. Came back to it in Jr high then kicked it into high gear in high school, which was cool because I already had the basic mechanics of how to do it under my fingers. I had been totally into Ace Frehley and Kiss, Black Sabbath, The Monkeys and The Beach Boys as a kid, and watched Roy Clark on Hee Haw and Glen Campbell on TV, but around freshman year, I fell asleep on my parents couch with MTV on, and woke up just after the start of the Friday night concert, it was Ozzy BATM tour ‘84, and Ive never awoken so fast in my life. Jake E Lee blew me away. I had never seen anything like it. I started digging back and discovered Lynch, EVH, RR etc and really got hooked. I led a very sheltered life as a child, my parents were old enough to be my grandparents almost, huge generation gap, so I just didnt know much about the scene until we got MTV.
