Agreed.Longevity: I've had the same bulb in a stairwell that never shuts off....about 18 months now. Maybe a key; they last longer if you never shut them off.
In my experience, the fewer temperature changes the better.
Top-tier LEDs should in-theory last many tens of thousands of hours. Not one of the cheap / readily-available brands I've used for general household lighting has delivered. Similarly to you, I'm getting 2-3 years max from mine and they're all super-low-wattages (6 -> 12w) and therefore generate a minimal amount of heat.
One of the earliest incandescent bulbs constructed has lasted 124 years thus far, burning 24/7/365.
It apparently started out at about 60w and now emits about 4w worth of light.
