What does RT have to say about these things? Thinking about going to a rack pre-amp type setup. I play ozzy/80's style stuff and I have an addiction to a lot of gain

Yes I have heard he was notorious for changing the pre-amp designs without stating so and trying different things on different ones. There's also the usual questionable reliability concerns that companies have mentioned they've seen.
