I can’t imagine there’s anything else I need to learn about Led Zeppelin and how they were formed. But if they just wanna do another round of talking Heads while they show archival photos and video that we’ve seen probably 20 times they should knock themselves out.
My eyes were welled up almost the entire time. I never got a chance to see Led Zeppelin growing up so this is as close as it gets. Sure, Song Remains the Same has some excellent concert footage but the movie "Becoming Led Zeppelin" was on another level. The audio and video clarity is amazing. I'm sure there was some AI in there to piece things together but totally worth it. IMAX is the way too of course. The first half of this 2 hour movie is mostly the history behind each band member. Who their influences were, what growing up as a child was like...
It's only $10 to purchase on Prime, so the cost of a Happy Meal nowadays. It has recent interviews with the surviving members and is the only documentary they've ever sanctioned. It's pretty difficult to get them to approve anything...at all. I'm in.
Put it on for background as I felt like hearing some Zeppelin and thought it was OK. I appreciated that the taking heads were the band themselves. The Bonham interview audio they would use and interject was cool.
Nice to be reminded what a powerhouse Robert Plant was. His dynamics are pretty unmatched in rock.
