Let's just call it the fucking awesome mod. I was playing last night for a while and just thinking, holy shit this thing sound great. This is what the new amps try to sound like but come up short. See other sub forums for such amps. :D

And Jim, if you want a clip then you'll have to wait for the Lugo jam to be posted.

I think the exact same thing every time i plug into mine haha :D  It's by far my fav tone i have ever had!!

Oh no, my stock JMP is in danger of getting hacked.
Must....resist.....threads like these are so GAS inducing.

You guys are making it hard for me to patiently wait for mine to be finished... and I have a good bit of wait yet

If you love your JMP then keep it stock. I personally couldn't use a stock Marshall because of the volume issue. The Cali mod isn't even that loud when the master is on 4 or 5, but it JUMPS at 8. That's much more useful than a stock JCM800 that pretty much goes from off to LOUD like a lightswitch IMHO.

You're using H30's right? I'm using one of those Handwired Marshall 4x12's with the Heritage H30's. This cab isn't that bright at all. I was also using a Bogner 2x12 and the Fortin sounded great on that as well.

I've never heard one in person, but some of the clips sound amazing. However, from what I've heard, the Friedman mods are the best for me.

http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7167393 The Pete Thorn Kitchen Sink clip we've all heard. I'm telling you, when the HBE part kicks in at 1:30, that's the tone for me. :D

I also loved the tone Ned was getting from his Purplexi. I'd love to try a Fortin someday though.

I can't wait. I'm just waiting to hear back from Mike right now on shipping it back to him. Longest wait of my life!!

Hey Dan,

I have 3 different Marshall cabs, one loaded with H30 blackbacks, one with 65's and one with Greenback reissues. The H30's are my fav and i would say the 65's are my second choice with the Cali Mod. The Greenbacks are awesome, but i think the actual cab i have them in doesn't sound all that great. In a better quality cab, they would kill

My friend Darren just scored one of those Handwired cabs and he is loving his, he also has a cab loaded with Blackback H30's and he's liking the Handwired the most! I want to try it out!

Yes, the Hardwire cab i have sounds great. Sometimes i think to myself, "do i really need a 4x12 when I'm not playing out" But you know what, they just sound soo much more full than any 2x12, even at low volumes. My Bogner 2x12 is going bye bye.

It loves the '80's...White Lion riffs apppeared out of nowhere yseterday :D ... a flick of the switch under the Master to the far right...scoop some mids it was pretty Metal too. Bottom stayed nice and tight with some sweet saturation

Haha I love it  That's what I'll be calling mine now!

The Cali mod rules. :worship: So many flavors to be had. I'm running mine through a Splawn 4x12 with Scumback H75's and I also have an Avatar 2x12 with Scumback M75 LHDC'S (2x65 watts). I played a live show through the 2x12 and it killed. This amp through those speakers is just unbelievable. Had quite a few people telling me how great the amp sounded. Getting this mod is the best thing that I have ever done. I absolutely love my Cali mod. Mike Fortin IS the man.

I'll be honest Dan, when I listen to Mikes mods I hear a very nice gainy Marshall. Thing is I hear that basic tone when I listen to some boosted Marshall clips. It's not a rip at alll. I'm just not hearing a huge difference between this tone and some of the boosted JCM800 and Plexi vids I've watched. So I'm guessing it's just the limitations of my computer speakers. Because very good players like you and Ralphie make such a fuss I'm confident I would really dig the Cali mod if I heard one in person. I have PM'd Mike a few times and he may be able to do something with my Vintage Modern. Wasn't sure if he could do the Caali mod on the VM actually but said if I decided to send it to him he would do some things. I guess I would feel better if I got hear one in person. I'm strapped for cash righ now anyways. The holidays, this house and medical bills are beating me up pretty good. Hopefully in a few months I can look at Mike modding my amp.
