I'm not crazy about camo, sorry. But I've been lusting after a custom SL2H-MAH with a fixed (string-through) bridge... I'd be interested in knowing how this turns out, you know, quality and price-wise. And oh yeah... What the waiting time will be. :aww:

Dang. I love the camo look. If Jackson didnt have the knob so close to the bridge pickup I would buy on in a second!! Because of that, I cant play them for crap.

Yeah, I sometimes run into trouble too with that volume knob. It's ok for solo, but annoying for rhythm. If I'd order a custom one, I'd consider a layout like on the Phil Collen model.

That used to bother me too....but then I just got used to it.

Here is the last limited edition run that I put together:
http://home.satx.rr.com/dannym/JacksonS ... ad_Col.jpg
That is a standard SL2H with the then custom copper head finish.
They've since made that finish a standard color....but the run of 12 that I put together has painted head stocks, none of the others have that.

We waited 9 months. I did not hear of any quality issues or problems with that run.

Does anyone else think it's really odd how close the 2 humbuckers are on Jackson guitars? Looks really off to me.

That's the problem with 24 fret necks. The neck pickup is moved out of the harmonic sweet spot. 22 frets is perfect, IMHO. You can still get that last octave via a full step bend, and the neck pickup is right where you want it.

27 frets is just plain silly, again IMHO. I don't know anyone that would trade good tone for a couple of extra frets. YMMV

I've never seen any 24 fret guitars have 2 humbucker as close together as Jacksons though.

If I ever buy another Jackson it will be a Dinky, just do not like the feel of through-necks anymore  I just like the snap of bolt-on necks much more.

I couldn't agree more! That's why I'm going to be putting my Les Paul up for sale very soon. Just can't used to the feel.

:)

I still like both....but lately i've been into bolt on DK1's and M-II.

In the past all I had was neck thru SL2H's and M-II's and never really understood what people meant by "snap".
Now I know exactly what you are talking about about. I think I actually prefer bolt ons now.

Copperheads... Nice! You might want to check out that link though...

Did you sell yours already? It's not on your home page...

Regarding knob positioning, I agree that it's a bit close. I removed the dome from the knob from which made things easier for me. Kind of scruffy, though!

I quite like that DK1!

I fixed the link...here is the correct url: http://home.satx.rr.com/dannym/JacksonS ... ad_Col.jpg

Yep...I sold it. I miss it every once in a while but not to much knowing that its now a standard finish option.

Me too! For some reason my PRS don't bother me as much in that regard, but I tend to just play classic rock tunes with them or more 'singing' guitar parts. My bolt on guitars do the crunchy/hell riff stuff :)
