Noodled around with the 150 watt version for a few hours today. It actually surprised me. Sounded pretty damn good. I only got to play around with the four base EQ presets. But not bad.

The clean preset was decent. Actually got a great classic rock breakup (AC/DC, Zeppelin, etc.) with the gain dimed. And I'm not gonna lie, it sounded pretty spot on to a cranked JMP even at low volumes. The high-gain stuff was good. A little "greasy" for my taste. But with the mids dimed and the gain backed off from where the preset is, it could do most any kind of overdrive I wanted.

I jammed along with my iPhone via Bluetooth. Everything from Tool, Zeppelin, AC/DC, Soundgarden, jazz, Ted Nugent, Coheed, Killswitch, etc. Great practice amp.

Had people in the store coming over to check it out. Said it sounded great. One dude that had a Mark III was surprised at how close it could get to that sort of high gain stuff when I was playing some Dream Theater bullshit. I think I might get one for practicing at low volumes along with some tunes in my apartment.

Line6 has come a long way.

Oh and the bass this thing kicks out is great. And it's nice how the guitar stays in the mix where it's supposed to be but the rest of the music occupies the sonic space it should as well. Nothing gets lost or muddy (except for maybe the vocals at times). But the bass guitar and drums kick you in the chest.

I've got a 150 and love it!!! I had ordered a 75, but returned it and got the 150. Sounds greats, but it's a little tough to find tones. Hopefully as more get out there there will be more tones published. JoeV

How easy is it to create your own with the app?

I've got a 150 too, easy to dial in tones with an ipad (nice big interface and can dial increments of 100) and save to the amp. I use the shortboard to switch the 4 channels and toggle effects on/off.
just played again tonight and I'm digging it more and more as I get tones dialed in

I've been looking at this amp. Mainly want it for practice and jam to songs and beats. I like the fact that I don't have to plug in my iPhone. Only thing is I've been listening to a lot of clips and it seems to have a nasal type tone. Not sure if this is true in person. I then listen to clips of the Yamaha THR10 amp and the AMPLifi seems to fall short. I think I'm going to try one out this weekend at GC, I really want to like this thing.

I played the Yamaha side by side with the Amplifi. Yamah sounds thin and fizzy and harsh. The Line6 model has a good low end and doesn't sound fizzy. Nasal? Maybe one or two of the presets. But I'm sure that can be adjusted (they're just presets after all). But I thought it was great. Sat in the mix with the music I played through it just fine. It's a practice amp anyway. Not something you'd actually record or play with a band.

The presents are funky, like channel one has the gain WAY too high on the jcm800, I tuned it to half and tweaked from there, and it sounds pretty good. I like the diesel crunch too, more amps in the high gain category than any other.

Yeah, I agree. To get a high-gain sound I liked from the presets. I used the second one. Gain to noon, bass to 11:00, mids to 3:00, treble and presence around noon. With the FX and reverb up for a really wet sound I could pretend like I was able to shred. :)

This is great to hear as I like all the features of the AMPLifie. I will only use it for practice but I still need good tone to enjoy the practice. I think I'm going to pick one up this weekend. Was there a big difference compared to the 75watter?

I swapped from 75-150 because there was a possibility of me needing it for some live work. The 75 was great, but the extra power and the celestion speaker instead of the no name 8(again, sounded great) made me think the $100 was well worth it. For the little bit of playing I do now, it should hold me over for a long time. Joe

See, I'm seriously thinking about one of these for the house. I'm mainly wanting to run Bias and Jamup through it though.

I'm curious about the Bias and Jamup. It's a cool Bluetooth speaker system too for $425ish (499- 15% when on sale). I like the 150 because of the 12" speaker and it's ss power, so it's like a 40-50 watt tube amp volume wise?

I've got both apps and just found out from the line6 forum that I can run from the line out on back to my studio connect. Haven't done yet, but the setup seems pretty quick and simple.

Solid state amps are usually much more efficient... That 150 should be screaming loud...

I didn't even bother trying the 75 watt model. The 150 has a 12" speaker. Speaker size limits the frequency range produced. You need a larger diameter speaker for true low frequencies. Otherwise the speaker is tricking your ear/brain into filling in the gaps. So when given the choice, I'll always go with a larger speaker when it comes to music reproduction (that's what this thing does anyway). It's really a stereo system that lets you plug your guitar in and jam along. So for me, the bluetooth audio is the main focus. And the 12" guitar speaker is the thing handling the bass and low end.
