I know everyone hears things differently but my m13 doesn't mess with my tone at all. I have my main board that has the m13 and all my fuzz\overdrive pedals on it and another board that has seperate pedals. I can't hear a difference in the two. Personally I don't like the distortion section of the m13 but really dig the reverb, delay, and modulation stuff. Setting up different scenes so a different sound is just one button away is also handy. I also dig the tuner and the fact I can use the expression pedal to mess with things.
To me it's much simpler to use the m13 than my board with the seperate effects since I can hit one button for multiple effects (still have to change amp channels but no biggie) instead of stepping on three pedals. I realize that you can get slightly better sound quality with individual pedals but so far for what I do and once you get a band playing I am more than pleased with the m13. A ton of pro's use them on their boards so they are good enough for my humble needs.
