Here's Little Joe (the new DIY 20 Watter) - don't take it too serious, the clean is clipping and its my first attempt with cam from the MacBook/firewire/two mics and such :D

Not sure if I leave the plexi-glas, maybe I'll use real glas.
The headshell is way too high, I'll get a "matching" one in two weeks - but IMO its pretty nice looking :)
 
That sounds killer man! Was a little weird with the whole left/right talking/playing thing going on, :lol: :LOL: but it sounds badass! Nice amount of gain, too.

That gain channel sounds really mean and punchy! How many gain stages you got running on that channel??

When you're diggin in hard on certain notes, its got the right amount of sag and compression, whilst still sounding big! :rock:

First channel is a tweaked Deluxe Reverb (Volume just located later in the circuitry, 100k, 330pF, 6n8), second has four gainstages with a standard CF (39k slope, 22nF, 22nF, 470pF)and is is able to switch the third off the circuitry. Switching is done by two double relais, then a loop into the poweramp, which is 6V6GT driven. Whole amp is running at 350 Volts (to keep the 6V6GTs healthy). Of course that causes a bit buzz at high gain levels, but that buzz is also amplified by the mics in the vid. Its much less in the room.

Very cool Olaf!! I can tell it looks very fun to play :)

I'll have to put together something like that at some point. Would be awesome to keep a smaller amp like that around at home, for when i want great tone but using only a lower wattage head and a smaller cab. Bet it would be a great amp for recording too!
 
Dan, you could buy a http://www.musikding.de Madamp A15 and I'd tell you what to change. It needs a different powertransformer, an additional choke and some more non-expensive parts added. Its "just" 279€, so maybe all in all even with a headshell 400 €.

Wow very cool stuff!! When i get some more cash soon, il be all over that :thumbsup: :rock: Would be very cool to have your advice too, to make it a killer amp!!
 
Olaf, just listened to that MP3

I think the tone is perfect and if it were me, i wouldn't change another thing. The tone is right about perfect, not too buzzy and not too smooth!

What cab was that running thru? or was it thru a speaker sim?

Its killer :rock:

Very cool!! That sounds nice and punchy with those V30's in a semi-open back, so id imagine it would sound even bigger with a 4x12.

Did you set it up with a footswitch to switch between channels and to switch on and off the extra gainstage?

Also, does the amp have a headshell yet? if so... Pics or it didnt happen :D :thumbsup:
 
Yup. All sounds footswitchable (clean, crunch and lead) with a threefold footswitch, indep. switchable. The headshell will arrive soon, my tube seller, who also builds cabs and stuff, is building a creme tolexed "vintage" looking thingy for me.
I'll post them asap.

Oh very nice! That amp is gonna have a real classy look to it :thumbsup:

I gotta build one of these at some point, il probably be selling off a bunch of gear at some point this year.. so hopefully i can make it happen then!

Was this the amp running the DC heaters? Couldn't remember if that was this amp or another amp you were building!
