If you just want 16 gauge in red/black, I would think Home Depot would have that.

Dave,

It's really just lamp cord with a different color jacket.

Any building supply with have it.

Lowes has that stuff cheap. They have copper strand lamp cord even cheaper ;)

but he'll know in the back of his mind that it's really not red and black wire inside the closed back cab.

Correct, and it wont sound right either. :D

I do the same thing.

my cabs are wired with purple and silver in one and blue and silver in the other heavy gauge (i forget the gauge to be honest) stinger car audio speaker wire and they sound so much better due to the purple and silver and blue and silver color combo

i joke but i do think the higher quality heavier gauge stuff can't hurt, would you actually hear a difference? who knows but i used to do car audio installs and had loads of the stuff so i just went with it since i know it's better than the typical home depot or radio shack stuff in quality.

I remember reading that Bogner uses Sound Runner 10 ga. Anyone tried this? I've got Radio Shack Oxygen-o-Plenty 10 ga. copper in my cab, sounds ok.

10 gauge!

Wow, that is overkill.

16 gauge is more than enough for a 4x12.

i have some 4 gauge and even some zero gauge power wire left over from my car audio days, you think that would be overkill?

now that i think of it, i think the stinger wire in my cabs is 10 gauge....so no, it's not overkill...says the guy who used it

I am in the same situation
When I install my new speakers I would like to rewire the cab..

At work we have a ton of Rocketfish Audio cable it is #16 gauge oxygen free copper with Polarity and measurement identification marks..
Do you guys think this would be good enough??
