Ive been checkin out cabs, looking for something new, been checking out mills afterburner, madison, stone age, almighty cabs...I will be using them with Diezel herbert,vh4 and splawn nitro. Hard to tell what is the best choice, they all seam well built, and reasonable in price.mills has their special baffle in it. I do like the oversized cabs, currently im running basson 4x12s w/eminece legends.I had ordered two mills but thanks to the fkn post office losing my money order I have to wait to get it back, so i have a lil more time to decide. Also, having cabs built into a road case is a big big plus......see almighty cabs. any advice

randall XL's or splawns. best price for excellent cabinets in my honest opinion.

for $420 you can order any unloaded straight cabinet in the color of your choice from splawn... 13 ply baltic birch.

IMHO invest in cabinet cases - universal to the 31x30 cabinet layout and you can use it for any madison/marshall/randall you want. that way if you sell the cabinet you dont lose the road case cover protection you desire

cabinets are one of those things that hold their value. its a wise investment. but whatever you put in is what your going to get out.

the Mills are fantastic cabs man, they have completely killed all my gas for any other cab. The only thing I want now is another Mills. I've owned/own all the amps you mentioned, and they have all sounded killer thru the Mills. Really unlike any other OS cab I've ever owned/played thru.

I love the Mills.

avatar cabinets are good too if you are on a budget build

They are good regardless of if you're on a budget or not. I have a contemporary 4x12 with hellatone 60's and 30's. Fucking amazing cabinet. Not boxy, strong projection and a solid low end. It is definitely in the same league as the Mesa, just different. AFAIK, they use superior wood to the Orange cabs and are the same dimensions.

The Mills is a great cab, I really like mine.
I also have a SA 4X12B which is fantastic.
I'd like to try one of the Beast cabs SA offers.

Ive heard a mills once and that guy had it sounding real good. never heard a stoneage or almighty. I was not blown away by the madison.

Id go Mills

Also as others have suggested, I like the Splawns, Randall XL's and Avatars too. I own an XL. It sounds great.

erock have you tried stone age? they also keep ranting about diezel front loaded k100 cab? front load rear load, all k100s? if cab build is the same those almighty cabs are road ready, which is a big plus, but will they sound the same?

I haven't tried the Stoneage, however, the guy I got my first Mills from actually sold it to me and got a 2x12 SA. If it says anything, he ended up getting another Mills later on. The Diezels sound pretty impressive from reviews, but I haven't tried one of the new ones. I'm still not sold there is a huge difference from their old cabs however, there is a vid on youtube interviewing one of the guys from Diezel, and he basically says straight out the only real differences are the front loading, kind of wood, and speakers. Not that the old cabs didn't sound great too. No idea about the Almighty stuff, are they doing anything innovative with the design, or is it basically the same design that's been used for the last 40 years? That's one thing that really impressed me about the Mills, as it wasn't just the same cab design repackaged with new cosmetics, and the design features actually made a difference in how the cab sounds compared to other simliar dimension cabs.

In reference to your comments about Diezel cabinets I will clarify what you made mention of again in proper context. The comment Peter Stapfer made was in comparing the old german Diezel cab to the new german Diezel cab. At one time (the time of the video you mention) there was the US Diezel cabs and the german Diezel cabs....which at that time were very different. There is no longer a US made Diezel cabinet and the cabinets are now all made in Germany. All the cabinets have been redesigned (even more changes since the video you mention) and sound fantastic. Everything about our cabs are now different and the feedback we receive from those who own them is stellar. They are made to accompany our products and they do so incredibly well. Hopefully this clarifies any potential confusion and puts thing in proper perspective.

the most sick sounding SLO clip i have ever heard, was through a diezel cabinet. actually, the clip is right here in the clips section of the forum.

Hi Terry, so at the time of that vid, there were the regular rear loaded Diezel cabs made in the USA, and a very different designed Diezel cab made in Germany? And now the new Diezel cabs(at the time of the vid) were simliar to those older German made Diezel cabs? Thanks for the clarification. By the way, I thought even the old ones sounded great, and I must have only played the US designed one.

CORRECT! However, since that vid you make mention of there have been further changes to the cabs. Again, all cabs are made in Germany now and ANYTHING that was available in the USA "before" is vastly different and much improved now. The old version cabs that were available in the past in the USA had the salt and pepper cloth. We (Diezel Germany) no longer make a salt and pepper cloth but rather a black cloth. So in the nutshell the old german cabs are much improved with the new german cabs and the new german cabs (which are now USA cabs as well) are light years ahead of the old USA cabs. I hope this clarifies.

yeah, that makes more sense to me now. I didn't know the old German cabs and US cabs were different. Hmm, this kind of rekindles some gas to hear one now. My VH4 or Herbert would look awfully pretty sitting on one. :D

On any of these cabs, and all of them, they all should offer the road ready covering, the laminate w/ alum edges, like almighty and madison offer, other wise you have to then order a roadcase for an add 4-500 bucks on top of the cab, sorry I fuckin hate tolex unless it sits in your bedroom, 2 weeks on heavy gigging my two bassons look like a pitbull got to em.

another question, maybe someone can clarify, mdf vs baltic birch? whats the pros n cons ive read great things on both and neg on both?

Check out the new Scumback cabinets. They look awesome and I am sure they will sound killer.

+1, they look VERY good and could be the best option if you are looking for that correct 69 cab and wish I could hear one with some vintage blackbacks.

Crabby, look into the padded Tuki covers. I put well over 130 shows on my 4x12 in a 13 month period and the Tuki came through big time. My cab has virtually no wear. Granted me and my band mates do most of the loading unloading, so it's not like we're tossing crap in the hauler needlessly...in fact everything is mapped out for packing. Still great low cost, light, protective alternative. Really the only thing you have to watch is the casters.

I've got a case but thank goodness I bought the Tuki...I don't miss lugging that case thing around. However if your relying on other clowns for cartage...yeah gotta have one. Anyway check out the Tuki, good stuff.

Same here. If I was to judge just off of tone, then the Mills Afterburner I played is the best cab I have ever heard.
