If a front loaded cab interests you, look into the new Bogner front-loaded. A guy on HC who also had a Diezel cab says he liked it alot more.

.

Who should post the person's name, for me he plays nothing that I do for one and I have seen his settings and they are different than settings I have seen on the same amps.

Not a negative, just stating you should post the source so people can determine if he would be a good source to go by.

I do like Erock's judgement as I like the tones that he gets.

Tornadoofsouls on HC

Hopefully he can show up at the Fortin ampfest, he would be crazy not to with all the iron that is going to be there.

Yeah. Then you can fix his settings and see how the bogner cab sounds then.

I'm most looking forward to the reviews of the Larry Dino - since I'll get to try a Bones for myself in the coming months.

Doing great Dave. Hope things are great for you as well.

We are good and have been very busy. Thanks man:)

A new project has come up so I'll ask you guys what you think....One of the mags is planning a hi-gain, hi-power amp shootout early next year featuring the brands we all know and love. They asked if we'd provide the cab for the demos. I'm leaning toward the V30/K100 X-pattern. I'm also considering the Afterburner 412B with EVM Black Labels. We just sent one to a major artist in Ireland and it ripped the roof off the shop in initial warm-up. What do you think? Which speakers?

also...The Afterburner 412B-EVM Black Label is only about $85 more than Diezel's G12K loaded 412 when shipped. Add your "family discount" and it's probably a bit less.

Is everything made there in your Alabama shop??

Yes they are hand-built one by one here in Bama.

Made in the U.S.A.

Absolutely! We're tired of seeing the US anywhere but at the top when it comes to product quality. This is our little contribution.

@MillsAcoustics

Is Matt from Muse using V30's in his cabs?

Yes he is...all V30s. He had one loaned from Manson's for several months of demo purposes. They pushed it every way imaginable as we recommended. The results speak for themselves, we're happy to report. Thanks.

Dave

Do you make front loaded 2x12s?

None of our cabs are front loaded. We have tested MANY variations of FL designs and just have found no performance advantage. Our entire design principles are in large part based on symmetry. Moving the voice coil further away from center does more harm than good, at least in our experience and with our designs. And for a Pro-Tour cab that gets slammed in and out of the van, a removable front grill makes very little sense to us. We build for the apocalypse:)
Dave, I'm going to ask you to do the impossible so if you defer...it's obviously and perfectly understandable.

But what 4x12 cab would you recommend besides yours? Yes, economically it's stupid of me to ask but what the heck. Just wondering, sometimes it's fascinating to see what manufacturers think about others...good or bad. If you can answer, cool...if not, I completely understand.

Absolutely man and it 100% matters to me that a quality product is made here and I can take pride in knowing my money possibly helped someone else pay their bills or put food on their tables that week...
You definitely have my future consideration...

I love the v30/Gk-100 combo. Never played the EVMs so I can't say about those. I'm sure they are great from everything I've heard about them though.

We have the utmost respect for our Brother Builders. This business is not easy especially when quality and performance are the highest priority. There are quite a few cabs that I have owned and would be proud to own again. My first "real" cab was a beat up 1960A when I was a kid. I thought I had reached the pinnacle of Tone Mountain. How could it get any better???? Then a buddy bought an oversized Mesa and at that point I became a believer in OS cabs....obviously still am. There were just some design issues that needed attention. If I had to choose a standard cab, then probably a rear-loaded Bogner or possibly a VHT with blended speakers would be my choice. It would have to be made of quality 13ply/18mm Baltic birch, not the Chinese junk. I think both of these are but I could be wrong. Most quality cabs will sound good at lower volumes. On stage at a big venue is where "the rubber meets the road". To borrow a previously used description, we sincerely feel that "nothing can touch" the Afterburner at stage volumes. That's what we design and build for.

Very good question...thanks!

I love diezel own a herbert and a vh4........ $1700 for a cab,Sorry, not! but their prices are out of control, there is way to much hype in the music world,HYPE,Thats All it IS! with all these amp builders and pedals and cabs, I feel its out of control, a delay pedal , buy a digitech hardwire for 150, put it up against a 3 or 4 hundred dollar delay, stand back and you wont know the dam difference, some sound better than others but prices are out of control. yes , some of these amps sound great but they are out of control getting 5- 6 grand for a head? wtf? there isnt 5 grand worth of parts in it, its GREED, feeding on HYPE!

ok......why can Scott Splawn keep his gear reasonably priced with custom options, there aint no options on a diezel or a bogner or fill in the blank.......

Because you are paying for the name in some or most situations..

Remember, as long as there are people willing to pay it, it will exist. When people stop paying it, it will fade out.

Euro/dollar exchange rate sucks, plus its expensive to ship it all the way from Germany.

I would love to hear one of the Mill's cabinets. My only problem is price. The most I ever paid for a 4x12 was a 1972 Marshall straight for $750...and that cab was loaded with pre-rola greenback 25's.... ;) I have tried a lot and found my early 70's Marshall cabinets sound the best.

Yeah cabs are getting freaking expensive, catching up to the rest of the gear out there in price. From the 4 cabs I own including CAE, Diezel, and Mojo 69 spec and the most I have paid was $700 and two of those cabs were new and unloaded so no not used. Loaded them from Avatar.

Your cab you had at the last fest was the best sounding cab I have ever heard for what we were playing through it.

Thanks so much Dave, I appreciate the honest answer. Alot of guys would avoid that question.

Parts are only one of the components. There is labor and then you need tools, a building, insurance etc. Oh, and you need to make a reasonable profit to stay in business, pay taxes, provide warranty service and customer support. The BIGGEST costs is in the way a product is sold. Every time a cab, amp or guitar changes hands, 40-50% markup is added. Take a $900 "whatever" and sell it to your distributor and he turns around and sells it to a retail store for $1300. That store then sells it to you for $1700. This is why we dropped Dealers.
