Not feeling my recto...a bit too much bottom end...looking to pair with a Diezel Paul...rock, hair metal...

Thanks

THD 2x12 is the still the king, and the form factor is perfect for the smaller headshell the Paul is in.

The Bogner 2x12 that is half a 4x12 is incredible as well, and what I currently use (because I sold my THD years ago like a fool when my Bogner head was too big to fit on it).

The Bogner 212CB (not oversized) is indeed great. They're very difficult to find used though.

I'd recommend the Friedman 2x12, which is almost the same besides being a couple inches less deep.

One more vote for the uber 2x12...

Here is my 2x12 suggestion for you...

Get a 4x12.

Seriously get a 4x12 and if you want stereo get an old 90's era Marshall cab with factory v30's and a stereo jack.

Come on folks they are not that heavy, if you are a woman or dying of a wasting disease I understand. :scared:

For some serious advise regarding 2x12s I will say this:

I have seen or should I say heard a bitchin stereo rig that had two older Mesa 2x12s with the metal grills. That was a great sounding rig and apparently a lot of people do it with those Mesa 2x12 cabs. Not sure the speakers but I think the bottom halves were closed with EVs and the top were either v30s or the 90 watt black shadows but I cant remember for sure.

I use a Mills Acoustics 2x12 with V12 Legends. On Rig Talk Bogner is the 2x12 of choice but I am very happy with the Mills. It is not the best ever and not as good as the 4x12 but it sounds great.

I do agree with EXP that a 4x12 is the way to go but for convenience and portability 2x12 is not bad at all. Can be miked and works fine for live use but I would bring the 4x12 for live.

The one thing I would look at is the weight. My 2x12 is heavier than or just as heavy as some 4x12's out there. So yeah it is easier to fit in my trunk but it does not make it much easier on my back. Not sure what you will be using it for but that is something I wish I looked into first.

Splawn 2x12 with splawn small block speakers all day long!!!

A cab with less depth is key here. Something in 12" instead of full 412 depth at 14" like the Rectos are.

There are lots of capable suggestions. But it's often down to product accessibility.
Either have one built by one of the many quality options out there or check the local used ads and store availability for a Marshall 1936. Cheap used, 12" deep, and sounds good.
The G12T75s in it might actually help out with the tone you're after just as much or more than the cab.

+1 I’ve tried so many 2x12’s, even ran some great ones in stereo.
Still doesn’t have the punch or depth of a good 412. So I sold my last 2x12’s this last year.
412’s sound better even at lower volume ImO.
Get a Diezel FL V30 cab and thank me later.

Only 2x12 I highly recommend anymore is the oversized convertible Euro 212 from V-Boutiques. It's large but DAMN does it hit! I just put a pair of Redbacks in mine.

I bought a sour mash 2x12 vertical cab and I love it . Thing sounds huge

Have you tried the Bogner OS 2x12? If so, how would this one compare?

Also, how do you like the Redbacks?

Cheers!

Marshall 1936 with a pair of Celestion Vintage 30 speaker installed. Works quite well for me!

Guitar George

Bogner OS2x12. More balanced, open and articulate than the Recto.

I have a Bogner 2x12 with a vintage 30 and a creamback that sounds killer and a avatar with a vintage 30 and greenback that also sounds great. the avatar was around 400 bucks delivered I think? its a copy of the bogner I believe?

Bogner for best money can buy. Avatar for best bang for the buck.

Anyone ever try the Forte 3D 2x12? (now available at Avatar)

I had one. ...Honestly, I really liked it at first, though I did notice it did not have the thump I was looking for. The bottom speaker had batting in it. It spread well on stage, but after spending time with it, I realized I liked others better like the Bogner OS and a few others.

Maybe Dave and his Team is doing something new to it, but that is just my experience. Others may chime in.
