Looking for a brutal high gainer!

To be honest, I have my high gain tones covered: A couple of Marks (Green Stripe ++ and IVb), a Monomyth Skeleton Key, Headfirst Alta, and a Diezel VH4. But I'm wanting something just over the top, balls to the wall chug machine. My most recent attempt was the Uber Ultra, and it was close but ultimately the voicing was too dark and messy. I'm thinking something maybe in the 5150 realm or an Engl, but I'd love to hear some suggestions. I've tried a lot of amps over the years, too many to list here, but wanting a different flavor than Marshall or Mesa.

This would be kind of a niche amp, possibly lacking in clarity or "warmth" for the sake of ultimate brutality. Part of me is thinking 5150 III 100w Stealth. I owned the original 50w and it was cool but I can relate to the "plasticy" tone that many describe. Maybe the 100w Stealth would deliver what I'm after. I've also owned an Engl Fireball 100, which was the strangest experience. For the first week it was my grail high gainer, and then 2 weeks later it was sold. Maybe I need this new Founder's Edition amp? Thanks!

I use a stealth live and even the unusable red chain to chug . I love all 5150s . It’s a very killer variation . I’ve had a few Engls . And fire ball 100 is king . I have Powerball ball now and love it too for death metal tunes like dying fetus . But stealth is a beast . My only complete is I wish blue channel was beefier . Red channel with gate is how I get my live fear factory tones
Larry can do some 5150/soldano stuff with incredible articulation . If you can find one

I think this could definitely be a winner. The clips can come across as a bit harsh/sterile but there's no denying it's one of the most brutal tones I've heard. $$$$
Well duh . I didn’t know this was a choice . By far go this way lol fr

I had ENGL SE fe. Not a bad amp. But, ENGL should change that amp's name to 'nothing special edition'. If I were you just buy recto rev g or multi-watt and plug boost pedal in front. 5150 variant is also good choice I think.

If you were looking at modded rectos, the Ground Zero mod is great. Another amp that is really modern but has a pretty unique voice is the Omega Granophyre. The EVH stealth 100w is a beast too, preferred the 6l6 over el34. The Iconic el34 hangs with anything too, it’s kinda its own thing in the series to me.

Nice, did you compare the EL34 and 6L6 Iconic?

I hear ya! His amps are pretty pricey though, and now with the tariffs I imagine they will creep up in price. I'd probably be willing to drop $3k on one, but it seems people are asking at least $3,700 or more. I almost sent Henric a multi-watt, all in it was going to be around $2k for the mod and shipping if I remember right. Plus the price of the amp.

I have played the 6l6 at practice and it might be the more brutal of the 2. The el34 sits better in a mix to me, it’s almost like the iconic 6l6s tone but actually audible with the band 😂

I have both the 6L6 and EL34 100 watt 5150 iii's ... and the HIWATT Super Hi-50 into a LANEY 412LA with FANE F70's...did it for me. absolutely BRUTAL
