Looking for Medium Sharp Pick with Grip

Been using Dunlop Ultex Sharp 1.14 for many years... sandpaper trick works as stated above. Recently started drilling like 5 holes where my grip is... ala Red Bear but without the price. I like the feel so far.

Not this gauge, but maybe these White Fangs. Textured, slightly smaller size, and pointed.
The big drawback is that they wear out rather quickly.

I think adding skateboard grip tape would be a good move, or scratching your pick up with an exacto knife / razor might address the slipping issue.

Ibanez has a pick series that is similar to the Dunlop flows in shape but slightly more pointy and has a sand paper / grip tape styled treatment on them - might be worth checking out. Might be too small though since you mentioned the jazz picks aren’t a good fit for you. I can snap a picture of them compared to one of the Dunlop sharps (I think I have one at home somewhere) if you’re curious.

The EVH Signature ones are about that thickness and have a textured grip. I don't like them because I usually turn the pick sideways with the point towards the bridge

Hmmmm... they do look a little small, but worth checking out!

Thanks all! Keep 'em coming!

Size isn’t too different just the picking point sticks out a bit longer. If you want to try one of these Ibanez I can send a heavy pick and extra heavy pick in an envelope to you if you’re in the USA no cost let me know

I just scratch the pick with a scribe to give it grip a la dimebag.
White Dunlop sharps, 2mm bricks.

I recently made the switch to the Bog Street 'Beast' picks and couldn't be happier. I was also looking for a pick that meets the same specs as what you want. That said, this pick (at 1.5mm) is thicker than I would normally use but I have not found that to be an issues. It is triangular; however the overall size is small....the picture in the link doesn't really show just how small it is. I find the attack with the pick to be precise and tonally it doesn't sound dull....nice and articulate. My fallback pick is the Dunlop Tortex Flex.

Primetone Jazz III XL with raised design grip. In between regular Jazz III and 351 size. Use them all the time.

I use these. They last a long time. Then when they get a little wear, I rub the edge over carpet to resharpen the edges.

I just chatted via email with Marc at Cool. He said he can't do custom sizes, but that the Ultra Cool have a sharper point (and is medium gauge, and has the grip. Gonna start there! Ordered some Dunlop Tortex III's as well (no grip, but similar to their larger sharp).

Thanks again, all!

After using variations of Jazz III’s for years I switched to these Petrucci picks 3-4 years ago. The logo is raised and provides some grip, but the slant + pick material lets that fucker glide off the strings considerably smoother than the average pick.

They’re a little bigger than a Jazz shape but not quite as big as a regular pick.

This is exactly what i do with my Tortex Picks & a few of my friends do the same. I just used a knife to Score mine & a friend uses an awl to score his.

I have those blueish Dava Jazz grippy picks. They're not good at all for me. They're not sharp enough and have a dull attack

I agree with what he said. They're a little bigger than a normal Jazz pick, the grip is great & they slide off the strings very well. I have a whole pile of these that I've moved on from if you're interested, send me a PM.

If you want to do your own shootout, Amazon stocks Dunlop sample packs for about $10 ea.
