Love This Guys Rhythm Playing Style...

Oh, man! This is cool af!
Huge CoC / Down / Pepper fan.
Cool story:
Around 2008 -2009 CoC was on tour with Motorhead up here in Canada. Saturday was Winnipeg, and Monday they were in Toronto.
So totally under the radar, the CoC guys decide to stop in London Ontario on Sunday night and do a show at a little bar that holds about 100 people, and they post it on their fan club page.
I was lucky enough to get tix, and hit the venue about 4pm. Went around back and managed to chit chat with Pepper and Woody for a bit. Super cool and chill dudes.
Anyway, show starts, and they do the first 2 tunes at a moderate volume. Pepper starts talking about how they appreciate the fans, and love to do this kinda shit when they have the opportunity, because the audience interaction in the small venues makes it all worth while.
Then he looks at Woody, walks over to his amp and basically runs his palm across the knobs and turns everything up to 10, all the while with the biggest little kid, shit-eating grin you've ever seen.
Then they proceeded to fukking blow the roof off the place. Crowd goes apeshit.
It was the most epic musical performance I've ever seen.
Dude is a fukking legend.

I've only heard a couple of CoC songs and they rock! Is this called "doom" or if not, what?

Love COC. They have a few songs that just automatically make the car stereo get much louder. I’ve always been jealous of Pepper’s singing voice. He doesn’t have the biggest range but he has what I call smoke, character. Which I do not 😂

Fucking A! Big fan of Pepper and his work. I started listening to CoC when Animosity came out and Technocracy was always in my Walkman my first year of high school. I remember visiting a friend's house and Albatross was on...I asked who the band was and when he told me "Corrosion Of Conformity" I didn't believe it at first. Really dig a lot of Down's stuff, the NOLA album is great.

He's a great singer in my opinion...Fits the style of music perfectly.

Yep, Pepper is a cool dude. Saw them when they last came around with Zakk Wylde. He came right out and joined the audience and hung out having drinks, B.S'ing, and was just an average Joe. I got into them when Deliverance came out - That's a masterpiece of an album.

I use the same "unconventional" technique with the pinky on my chords too. I just learned that way, and found it easier.

Funny, I've never seen him with a Gibson, always an ESP.

Really cool guy...I have hung with him a s well. It's a bit odd, but he seems to favor his ESP Viper style guitars when playing with COC...But plays mostly Gibsons with Down. Both good choices in my opinion.

There's some hardcore gatekeepers that bitch about C.O.C supposedly selling out or whatever. Those guys can go fuck themselves. I've been a fan since Eye For An Eye (Still have my signed original pressing), but they evolved with every album and in my opinion got better and better. Animosity was my favorite for a long time, but I think when Pepper joined, he really was the missing puzzle piece, and the band became greater than the sum of it's parts. Pepper and Woodroe are right up there with Hanneman and King as my favorite guitar duo. They just sound so great together. I've met them a couple of times too, and they are always super cool, and genuinely happy to chat with fans.

Agree 100%...Pepper completed that band. Deliverance, Wiseblood and Volume Dealer are all OUTSTANDING hard rock records that have stood the test of time.

Agreed, but I'll include ITAOG in there. It's a fantastic album, and Stanton Moore's drumming is great. No Cross No Crown has some great songs too.
