Love Trower - A True Tone God

I consider Trower one of my guitar teachers. Into him from 1973 first Robin Trower album. Seen him countless times starting in 1976. He is what playing with feel is all about.

Trower was a huge influence on me as a kid. Love his stuff. I was just rockin to the BBC stuff a few days ago!!

Bridge of Sighs should be on every players must learn list.

Yeah, great playing and tone but there's something more going on. Trower has his own Unique guitar "voice." His music is always dripping with that unmistakable thick dark brooding Robin Trower sound. I know it's him after only a few notes. It's some kind of Trower voodoo. :scared:

Like Jeff Beck .... He has that unique way of playing that even using his amp and effects I doubt would be copied... or at least not very close. Great Tone

2 Wahs and a special Wah cocked pedal ......Damn wah much

Interesting he likes a flatter neck with big frets on his strat. :)

I think the Fender specs say 7.25 radius but it's flatter than that. Bought this Trower sig model when Fender CS's were around 2K

9.5 radius? Why would they put 7.25 if he likes wider?

I had a red Fat Strat like that one. Kinda miss it :aww:

I'd guess it's 9.5. Don't know why it says 7.25 in the specs.

Love Robin Trower! I've always found his playing to be incredibly tasteful with killer tone. Wouldn't mind giving that Midnight Wine Burst Strat a workout.

Nice to see you Carl. You've always been another bloke like me that seems to understand Mr. Trower and his musical tone philosophy.

This may seem trivial, but it's stayed in my mind every since Robin said this to me. Back in '82 I had the pleasure of meeting Robin at a modest gig he played at the Culver City convention center in Culver City CA. I don't remember exactly how or why it came about in our brief conversation, but he told me to never be satisfied with a electric guitar that didn’t impress me tonally (acoustically) when you also played on it without an amplifier.

One of the keys to his monster tone and sustain is that he down tunes alot and plays extremely heavy gauge custom strings.

Totally agree on Jeff Beck.

Thanks for the vid. Very cool. Love his tone/playing/feel overall.

Love Trower and Carl plays his stuff as well as anyone I've heard...

Lately I've been turning on backing tracks for "Bridge of Sighs" tunes, plugging in my strat, vibe and wah and hacking away… so much fun for me… for the listener… not so much…

I gotta throw this in here.

Makes me wanna add a roto vibe pedal to my overly built to my skill level rig

Big Trower fan. Love his style. Jimmy Dewar was the best vocalist for him.
