This has to be the first time for as long as I can remember that I'm not spending a significant amount of time looking at gear and wondering what to buy next. I got my Axe-fx standard a few days ago and I can't stop playing my guitar. I feel like I just found the hidden secret that I've been looking for all along. Tonight it took me all but 10 minutes to dial in the familiar tone of my Mesa Mark III, but only it sounds much better! This thing rocks

Yeah I'll probably be working my way toward that soon enough, just too many bills to be paid right now. I'm very happy with the standard. Can't wait to gig with it!

I bought a Standard some time back when all the hype was peaking. It sits in my studio rack and is hooked up to powered monitors. When I need to be quiet and play through headphones or am too lazy to hook up an amp, I plug into it to noodle around on. I would never gig with it though. Don't trust a DSP computer chip and hard drive. You can use it as an effect only processor through your FX loop and it sounds about like everything else. But, if you are into SS amp modeling for playing live, it should suit you fine. Mine hasn't been turned on in a few months.

With the new Atomic cabs!

So what's your fav amp sim?

I'm really diggin the recto red and the IIC+ so far but I haven't even gotten through them all yet. I love the parameters that can be adjusted and I can see them all sounding good with just a little tweaking.

The axefx does not have a hard drive.

Of course 1920s technology with vacuum tubes that have a very limited lifespan and can go bad any moment is more reliable than a solid-state thingy made with the highest quality components...

Yeah, that's right, no none here has ever seen a broken tube amp.

not bagging on the axefx, but that doesn't seem like a good comparison. Unless it has a catastrophic failure, a monkey could swap a vacuum tube. That ancient technology means there is a lot less to go wrong, and also factors into ease of repair.

Well a fuse could blow also, so it may take two monkeys,  J/K

I agree, bad comparison.....

However glad you are digging yours, that is all that matters and there are a world of fun amps and effects in the thing. Enjoy!

it rules!!!!

It doesn't stop GAS. It just shifts it towards other things, especially guitars. I know from whence I speak. :D

Well you can't just write off catastrophic failure. It can happen. And if it does, that monkey can eat a dick before he's able to fix it. :D

And on the flip side...
I've done about 200 shows in a row with mine with only having busted out an old JMP twice because I wanted to make sure I didn't miss it. And no I'm not into "SS amp modeling for playing live" but rather into consistent great tone and and response.
