I am in the market for a 2X12. Besides Avatar, who else makes nice cabs that are not going to kill my bank account?

Yes, feel free to spam in this thread too if you would like.

Mesa Recto 2x12 cabs can be had for the $300-400 range, and they are excellente

I have a Carvin Legacy 2x12 with Greenbacks that sounds amazing....and is TOTALLY easy to transport.

I've got 4 ADA 2x12" slant SplitStacks; (Celestions) you can see most of them in this pic:

SPAM: I'm selling each cab for US $150 so $300 for a pair, $600 for all four. :) Plus shipping (they are about 50 lbs each, and I need to get boxes). They are located in Atlanta, GA, USA.

More info on them here: http://www.adadepot.com/adagear/gearpages/speakers/ADA-Splitstack.htm

Lopo. I got a 212 recently and it's pretty damn good for what I paid for it new.

If I can find a box.........I will send you a mint Lopo Signature cab for $175. Its built like a brick ****house and I preferred it over a VHT Fatbottom, Avatar, and Splawn 2x12's. Just like this one:

See if you can find a box and let me know. That is $175 shipped correct? How would you like payment? Thanks!

Sorry. I meant to say $175 plus shipping. But for my mistake, I will do $150 plus shipping. Let me see if I can dig up a box around work tomorrow. I'll try to get a shipping estimate as well if you want.

Shipping quote would be great. The zip it would go to is 44133.

I went out to the Lopo cab site, very impressive number of options. Never heard of them, but they're bookmarked now, thanks! I noticed they have 2x12 vertical slant cabs that are very similar to my ADA cabs. My ADA cabs are tight, I really like the sound and range, and they have the option of daisy chaining cabs together in serial or parallel to adjust your overall impedance. Giving my second thoughts on selling these (and the power amp) now.

Anyone else using 2x12 vertical slant cabs? What 2x12 cab configurations are you using? (sorry if this is hijacking the thread, but I think it fits the topic title?)

No prob. I meant for this to be an open exchange of ideas anyway. Finding possible purchases was just a bonus! By the way, what poweramp are you selling?

i use one of these
randall2x12.jpg

totally rips for a 2x12. fits easily in the back seat. i only paid 150 bucks for it, and it easily hangs with any 4x12. im suprised this style of cab isnt more popular

I would buy one of those for $150. I really need a different cab for some comparisons. I currently use a beat up Music Man 4X12 with Warehouse CL80's and Emi V12's. I preferred this cab to a Mesa 2X12 that I had with V30's running with my Tverb so I have kept this thing around. It has no resale value either so that could be why it has stayed also.

I have a Horizon 2X12 also with Celestion 12M70's in it that sounds pretty good too but both of my cabs are pretty dark. I think anyway. Like I said, I need another box for comparison.

Thanks, Fek!

I've got an ADA B200S solid state, 2 channel poweramp, 100W RMS / side that is the match for the ADA 2x12" splitstack cabs. I've got them up for sale, but I'm having second thoughts now...I may keep these 4 cabs and the power amp. I'm keeping one of my 2 MP-2 preamps, but I'm selling my other ADA gear: MP-2, MP-1 (preamps) and MQ-1 Graphic EQ (does wonders for the MP-1, must have for the MP-1 IMHO), MXC MIDI footcontroller, and a full ADA bass rig (MB-1, B500B power amp - bi-amp, a 2x10 + 1 5" horn cab, and a 1x15 cab matched to the preamp / bi-amp). More info on the ADA gear / specs can be found here: http://adadepot.com/

I'm looking to buy a set of FRFRs for my Axe-Fx Ultra so I need the cash and the space in my home studio, but I may prefer the Ultra with my ADA power amp and cabs, so I may take these off the market until I'm sure the FRFRs will do what I want - unless there's a local (metro Atlanta, GA USA) buyer, shipping 50 lbs. cabs is going to be a pain, literally, now (too much info maybe but, I just had surgery last week and I can't lift more the 20 lbs. for the next 4 weeks).

For now though, the cabs and power amp are still up for sale. Here is a link to my SPAM post here: http://www.rig-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=39303

I have been kicking the FRFR thing around pretty hard for the past couple of weeks. I use a Tonelab LE and have recently sold all of my tube gear. I would like a tube power source but am short on cash so I can't afford anything that I would consider optimal (VHT or Mesa power) and I have had some issues dialing in live tones that I like so FRFR seemed like the next logical step.

I keep changing my mind though because I have not had any type of what I would consider a "standard" cab in about 8 years hence my current search.
