Holy sheeeet! It was worth the two-month wait.

Had stainless Jescar medium-jumbo put on my '84 Custom. It's like a whole new guitar. But it stills has that thick low-end and mean, growly mids. But everything is so clear! It sounds like a piano! I'm so so so so so so so happy right now. :D Plays like a dream. Every note is clear and rings. My amps sound better, too. They dig in and scream. Harmonics are easier. Everything is just awesome.

Through my VH4 with BKP Black Dogs, my rig sounds like a high-gain piano.

Will be sending my other Silverburst to Phil as well. :)

love SS frets, they last a long ass time always have that newly fret polished feel to them

Would you mind saying how much? Phil is relativley local to me.

Cool. I've had Phil work on a number of my guitars. He's the reason I stopped doing my own set-ups.

It varied from his basic prices. He doesn't just refret your guitar. He completely analyzes your neck board and existing frets and offers you options. Quite a few guiars will need the neck planed and leveled to take out humps or inconsistencies, especially in Gibsons. Phil told me Gibson basically uses tall fretwire and just lets the Plek level it. Sure the frets will be level to one another but some will be taller or shorter to compensate for neck inconsistencies. Phil gets rid of the inconsistencies. It really does affect the outcome significantly. Just ask the OP

Not sure if my guitar needed any fretboard leveling or additional work. But it sure plays and sounds great! Price was $300 + upcharge for stainless.

Does he leave the binding edge on the fret ends?

If you ask him to. I had him leave them off. Gives you more room to fret notes and bend on the high and low strings.

I'll post some pics shortly for you wankers who keep buggin' me. :D

That means you have a good one. He would have told you. He's a real cool honorable guy.

Very cool!!! I've been looking for someone to ship some guitars off to for the stainless treatment.

I'll start him off with a '93 Les Paul Standard & one of my Peavey Wolfgangs.

Thanks!

Cool, Looks like an awesome job!! Any drastic tone changes? Brighter? I like the height!

Phil is the best and Im glad he's only an hour or so drive. Totally worth it. No one else I'd trust my guitars to. Especially refrets. Had him do 2 of my older les pauls. Came out amazing.

Looks awesome. Enjoy it. I wonder how much more to leave the nibs on. I really hate Les Pauls with out the nibs and that is one of my peeves with my PRS's. I do love me some SS fretwire.

Like I said in the OP, the guitar isn't "brighter" exactly, but more clear. There's a bit more bite in the high-end, but it's not "brighter"... just clearer. Like a grand piano. You hit a chord on a piano and every string comes to life and rings out like a bell and each note is clear and present. That's what it's like. And if it's too bright for ya, you can always adjust your amp or turn down the tone knob on the guitar. But it's a good kind of brightness.
