Okay, maybe not ever, but definitely one of the worst of this year. Was Metallica really serious?

Utter dross. Their faux-intellectualism and unmerited statements on it as a "statement of art" etc are completely hilarious and obviously driven by Lars's insatiable desire to be 'accepted' outside metal circles.

I haven't listened to it. I don't plan to either.
I think calling it the 'Worst Album Ever' is a stretch though.
Friends of mine that are hardcore Metallica fans, absolutely despise it. They said the music that the band played was ok- it's just that Lou Reed's rambling rants were terrible. I guess Lars Ulrich was just getting arty with things and the rest of the band was just interested to play music without it being the usual Metallica album thing. It's just an experiment, that doesn't mean it has to work.

guys, seriously.... do you think this is a "metallica" record? I don't understand all the animosity towards the band........towards Lars....... has he been a jerk in the past? maybe, but so has ANYONE.
This is a LOU REED ALBUM...... Lars and Lou talked about maybe collaborating on something during their meet in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Induction, obviously Lars didn't think it'll never happen and bam, he gets a call from Lou later on calling him on the deal.
He basicalle came with a bunch of song and MEtallica added some music to it........... but this is a LOU REED ALBUM. Metallica fans/haters/lovers/asskissers/etc/etc should STOP complaining and understand it isn't a MEtallica album or creation.

The real James Hetfield died in 1988, it was never brought to the public because the record companies saw the potential dollars Metallica could generate through not only their music but by commercializing the metal genre, and decided to keep it quiet. They took his DNA and tried cloning him but one fateful night Lou Reed threw up in the test tube thus affecting the development of the new James' vocal chords. This created a virtual James who could still play and rock but whose voice fuckin sucked balls.
Fast forward to now, the only person who knows what happened is Lou Reed and they only way they Metallica could keep him quiet was to do this Lulu record.

this is a horrible album and career choice. Scorpions at least get to retire with a cool album back to basics and Metallica goes out like this

Lou Reed worked with KISS on 'Music from the Elder'. If it worked for them.....wait a minute, it didn't.
